“Let me, O’ let me bathe my soul in colors; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow.” ― Khalil Gibran

Many of us are in the midst of colorless winter, and, for me, the drab tends to seep into my daily mood. Grey days, stark tree branches, muddy snowmelt, and a dimly shining sun make it difficult to remember the beauty of a warmer season. For this week’s photo challenge, I wanted to seek brightness: a bit of mood therapy in the form of vibrant colors.

The image I’ve shared this week is of the colored pencils that my husband used in junior high school. My mother-in-law brought them to us this weekend, still in lovely condition in a fancy metal carrying case. The vibrant colors lifted my spirits, and I hope the image lifts yours too.

This week, share a photo of something vibrant. Vivid colors, a lively portrait, or perhaps a delightfully colorful landscape, if you’re in a warmer climate. Let’s wash the web with a rainbow of colors to keep the winter gloom at bay.

  1. We recently had a winter storm in my neck of the woods, and the snow was so blindingly bright, I had to shut my blinds after a few hours. So winter is not always dull, that’s for sure. But you’re right: a little more color would make things even better. 🙂
