This week, show us something that doesn’t maintain a straight line.
In nature, we rarely see straight lines. Organic materials tend to have natural curves to them, a natural movement to their form. Snail shells, like the one pictured below, twist as they grow. The center tip of the spiral — the apex — is composed of the snail’s original, baby shell. I find this to be delightfully symbolic of life itself — the path and process of growth being anything but straight and direct.

The twisted apex and whorls of a snail shell. Photo by Jen H.
In this week’s photo challenge, show us something twisted. You can be literal in your interpretation — show us the coils of your hair, a winding woodland path, or a gnarled tree trunk. Or, be more abstract, and show us something that represents life’s inherently twisty character. We’re looking forward to it!
I put a gallery of twists from nature, aided here and there by humans:

That is an exquisite seashell, Jen. My submission this week includes a pair of Great Blue Herons twisting and contorting themselves to place a long stick in the nest they were building. https://babsjeheron.wordpress.com/2018/05/28/beautiful-great-blue-herons-a-retrospective-nbr-1/

Things are not in fact twisted. You only believe them to be twisted because you think the earth is flat.
