Symbol

This week, share a symbol with us, and tell us what it means to you.

Symbolism is uniquely human. We use symbols to represent intangible things like our beliefs and emotions, and to convert the abstract into something understandable. We may also use symbols to simplify and convey information.

Photography is often the same; an image illustrates a single moment in time, or captures an object in perpetuity. Much like symbols, photographs, too, may conjure vivid memories and mean a wide range of things to different people.

This week, share a symbol with us. In my image, the engagement ring symbolizes an intended commitment of two people to one another. Your subject does not have to be as literal of an interpretation; you can choose something that is uniquely symbolic and relevant to you, and share the story behind it.

  1. Check out my response to the symbol challenge at pinkheelsandpolkadots.wordpress.com. On another note, can anyone fill me in on why some of the links to individual challenge entries appear with an orange overlay? I’m new to this and just want to be sure I haven’t done something wrong. Thanks
