Sun. We’ve done sunset before, but what about when the sun, in its full glory, is the feature of your photo? Here’s a picture of a Roman alleyway, and the sun transforms this normal scene into something magical with its rays.

New to The Daily Post? Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, you’re invited to get involved in our Weekly Photo Challenge to help you meet your blogging goals and give you another way to take part in Post a Day / Post a Week. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

1. Each week, we’ll provide a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.

2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.

3. Subscribe to The Daily Post so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS

  1. WoW! That is an amazing shot Sara… liek soemthig from a movie set… Time for me to go find some sun shots in the old files… This is going to be an interesting challenge and I’m looking forward to what my fellow bloggers wll have. Thank you! :-)

  2. Im looking thru my archives for the perfect pic, can’t seem to find one I really like. I guess tomorrow morning I will hit the road to find just the rite one! Hope everyone has a sun – fun filled weekend. We are going to get 2 to 3 inches of rain.

  3. I’ve been browsing through several photo submissions on the Sun theme. It was fascinating to see the many diverse representations of the Sun across the world.
    In the ancient Hymn by Joseph Addison (1672-1719) it is wonderfully conveyed –
    “Th’ unwearied Sun from day to day
    Does his Creator’s pow’r display;
    And publishes to every land
    The work of an Almighty hand.”

  4. After looking through many of my travel photos I found many sunsets and only a few sunrises. This is a shot of the sunrise over Crater Lake as I sat on the back porch at the lodge with a hot cup of coffee. There are many visitors to Crater Lake who never get to see the sun because of the high amounts of precipitation. We were lucky and spent two days exploring Crater Lake National Park and did not see a cloud. So in addition to the beautiful blue water the sun is one of the most memorable things from our visit.

  5. Our topic for this week made me realized I seldom take pictures of sun. Hmmm… interesting! :) Anyway, here’s mine for this week. A little bit late, but like I always say, “late is better than never.” Enjoy the rest of the weekend, guys! Thanks for always inspiring me with your photos and stories. I’ve been busy lately, but will try my very best to check your website/s this week.

    1. Hello Rick :) Thank you for your honest advice and your wish to help me with my photo taking efforts. I will leave you a reply on my “two subjects” challenge on my post. I have also published something for this week’s “sunny” challenge. I admire your work and will take your advice any time.
