This week, be a visual storyteller.
“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” — Ansel Adams
Photos are remarkably multi-purpose. They can be informational, instructional, or historical. They can be created for pure artistic pleasure, or for decoration. My favorite kind of photograph, though, is one that tells a story. A single image can encompass what would otherwise require a long written narrative — the characters, the setting, even the plot.
In this photo, my eldest’s protective arm around her sister establishes them as people with an emotional bond. The background of the image places us in a rural setting. Their active postures convey movement. They were exploring a farm where we were picking strawberries. Can you see the story?

Stories, sisters, and strawberries. Photo by Jen H.
Though a single image can tell a complete story, adding photos to a series can even further expand upon a narrative.
For this week’s challenge, do some visual storytelling with your photography. As always, I’m excited to see what you all share.
Aww, so cute. I can see lots of stories from these shots. Lovely.

Oh my gosh, such adorable, colourful photos. I can relate to that story, except it was blueberry picking. The photo is upon my wall, as are most of my photos. I’m looking at it now, smiling, remembering…thank you.

Both your daughters and the strawberries look delicious! Seems to me they’ll remember this day every time they eat strawberries! Where was this, pray?
