Local

This week, show us where your heart is.

“Home” is more than where we sleep at night. It is a place that is familiar and comforting, and it gives us a sense of belonging. Home is what and who is local — the places and people we know by heart.

“Where thou art, that is home.” — Emily Dickinson

In many cultures, the neighborhood public house (or “pub”) is a place where generations of people have gone to to share stories, to share space, and to belong. The image I’ve chosen for this week is one I shot of a pub in Dublin, Ireland. Dublin pubs at night are dimly lit by candlelight, crowded with people, and are wonderfully close and cozy. Even though my home was on the other side of the world, I felt like I belonged, a part of the local community.

This week, share what “local” means to you, and show us where your heart is.
