Inspiration

This week, we want you to show us what inspiration means to you.

To celebrate a birthday, our family gathered at a restaurant with panoramic views of our city. After the prairie storm clouds passed, and before a spectacular sunset, we enjoyed a bird’s eye view of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The museum — which officially opened on September 19th, 2014 — is a stunning architectural wonder and an inspiration to all of humanity. Its mandate is to educate visitors on human rights abuses, spread awareness, and sow empathy and compassion so that the atrocities of the past will never be repeated.

What is your inspiration? What moves you? What is it that never fails to motivate you, to get you going, or make you happy? It could be the bench in a quiet section of the park where you go to center yourself. Maybe it’s a favorite piece of music or book passage that boosts your enthusiasm. Or, maybe it’s the face of the love of your life, a treasured memento, or the unconditional love you see in the eyes of your pet.

Show me your inspiration! I can’t wait to see how you interpret this theme.

  1. I had the good fortune to meet with and watch Guache, one of Colombia and Latin America’s most respected contemporary muralists and street artists, work on a project over the past few days in Bogota’s marginalized Las Cruces barrio. Its such a joy, almost a rush, to watch mystical birds and proud mythical warriors emerge almost instantly from cans of spray paint, like pre-Incan genies let loose from their bottles. His work is inspiring, and was watching him work.

  2. Inspiration! What inspires me to do what?? A piece of art, famous artist or not, sometimes will inspire me to create my own artwork. Other times I’ll look out my window of our desert home and the magnificent sunset will inspire me. Then looking at the nearby mountain range I’ll feel inspired to just sit and reflect on the beauty of nature. So hard to pin point inspiration.
