First Friday

Brand new blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.
  • When commenting, avoid copying and pasting the same response repeatedly. It makes it look like you’re not really paying attention. Not to mention, it’s spammy.

You can also take a look at my site for the pattern it might help you apart from that keep writing , smiling and helping others.

      1. I agree that labeling has detrimental effects all members of society. This is a topic I write about consistently, explaining how labels related to disability
and chronic illness have affected my life. I’m glad to see that others are also talking about such phenomena.

I’m writing about societies distorted perspective of teenagers and their mental health. I’m uncovering the truth about the impact different aspects of life have on the mental state of teenagers. Here’s the link, if you’re interested:

    1. I’d highly recommend you write some posts and complete an About page so potential followers can find out more about you. Take a look on more established blogs for inspiration and to see the level of traffic it generates.

    1. Hello Bloggers,

Welcome to First Friday! We moderate this space heavily to ensure it’s a space for brand new bloggers sharing the link to their first post, published within the last month. Please note:

      * One link per blogger. Additional links will be deleted.
      * Links from blogs older than one month will be deleted. Please visit the Community Pool to ask for feedback about your work and your site. It’s open to bloggers of all levels of experience.

All the best with your blogs!

      1. I don’t want to stress on you, but not sure means it is possible!
You now i have problems that are thought to be irrecoverable but i would rather spend my life trying to figure out how to heal it, and if I didn’t succeed that only means I’ve given those after me a list of what doesn’t work and they have to start where i have stopped.

    2. Hi there! I’m so happy to have come across your post. I also catalog of my experiences with chronic illness, rambling and ranting about the multidimensionality of it all. I’m looking forward to reading your blog and would love to know what you think of mine!

    2. Hi, great blog especially the recipes part. Small suggestion, it would great if you feature some of your best posts on you homepage to entice your readers. Just an archive doesn’t do much in that respect. Hope it helps.

    1. I loved your post on classic books. I share that same prejudice but over the years I’ve learned that I’d have missed out on some of my most loved “book friends”. I still have the reluctance but I’m willing to fight it, good luck!

    1. Good job I’d eaten before I read that post! I noticed you didn’t have a picture on your Valentine post. I’d recommend adding a photo to all posts, as these show up in the Reader and us bloggers are visual souls. There are lots of free image sites available and one that I have used is Unsplash (although I try to use my own images as much as possible).

    1. That Instant Snap was harrowing. It should be compulsory reading for every kid. You have a great voice, that post was every bit as “awful” as the subject should be. You absolutely nailed it.

    2. Really enjoyed a couple of your posts. I’m also interested in short stories. A couple of my posts have been flash fiction. If you get a chance please pop over to my blog and take a look. Going to give you a follow!

    1. Hi, great start! I suggest adding a category as at the moment it is uncategorised as your site grows categories will be really using to separate your posts and make them easier to find for you and your readers. 🙂

    1. Your blog is really well laid out. I couldn’t see any pictures on your citrus salad and cookies recipes, but the photos on your other posts really bring your posts alive. I also like the ‘print’ option on your recipes. Well done!

    2. I would have loved a photo to go with this! It would have completely sold the recipe. I’m definitely someone who likes to see pictures of food but that being said, I’ll be looking for more!

    1. Hi Welcome! I checked out your site. Maybe in the About page you can write something about your blog or yourself to give the readers an idea about what this blog will be about? 🙂

    1. i LOVED the simplicity of the blog
Just one tip – make the bg white if you can.
Otherwise the post and the theme is really good
Good luck for your future and have a nice day!

    2. Great stuff! I would suggest adding an About page as this lets readers know a little bit about your blog and your philosophy. Also your post is uncategorised. I would recommend adding categories as these do help ‘sort’ your posts as your blog grows helping your readers and you. You can see how I use categories if you click on my name. 🙂

    1. Hi, I was going to comment that practice makes perfect 😉 your post is good. I would recommend adding an About page for others to know a little more about you – a lot of bloggers check this out before following. 🙂

    1. Welcome to blogging 🙂 Content is good and interesting but I would suggest re-organizing your homepage. It seems a bit cluttered at the moment and is a little hard to find specific posts.

  6. Hello everyone, Here’s a link to my first blog post: https://wp.me/p9FTD6-j
It’ s to help those who are considering volunteering at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand as when I was going I struggled to find anything with enough detail for me to make an informed decision on whether it was for me. I hope you like it!

    1. I love connecting with others who are writing for social change. And I will be looking forward to reading more from you. Your post echoes much of what I write about here:

“Are you retarded?” The words hang in the air as I pause, consulting my 8 year-old reflection in the mirror of the school bathroom…

    1. I can’t help but notice that you’re using a lot of tags on your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your work, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers. Here are some tips on tagging you might find helpful.
