To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hi everyone,

I am a new blogger and I have a creative writing blog where I write short stories which I have written for a creative writing course I’m currently taking. I will also in the future be adding new content such as posts about the craft of writing and book reviews. I also do lots of arts and crafts with my kids so I’m sure some of that will feature to. Come and take a look!
My first post is an autobiographical piece of a childhood visit to the sea side. Let me know what you think, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Love the premise of your blog! I’m a creative writer as well and wish I had thought to do entries based on some of the stories I wrote and developed during academic courses past. I really look forward to reading your work and following your blog as it evolves!

  3. I am new at blogging and I find it to be very therapeutic for my mental health as I am a Graves disease sufferer. I also would like to write more about local food experiences as I am quite a foodie and where I live is a melting hotpot of different cultures from Middle Eastern to Indian to Korean to Chinese and a whole lot more! Feedbacks are welcome and thank you for visiting ❤

      1. Thanks GeorgieJ. Please feel free to share your days because I haven’t got a friend who has felt understood what goes on in my mind everyday and I was told off sometime ago that I was overexcited and talking too loud. So writing a blog will make sure the volume ain’t too loud 😂

      1. Thanks. Yeah it definitely got out of hand fast. It affected not only my life but my blog launch date. For those reasons I thought I would start with a bit of a back story!

    2. Hello leen
I read ur blog and it was awesome. It was interesting and was very ambitious. But I saw one setback which made me to struggle a bit to comment to the post. Why can’t a reader could comment without requiring change bract details? That was the question which raised in my head ! But i m sure there will be hope hereafter more reasons for u to decide it that way! Happy blogging and don’t forget to follow me back and check mine 🙂

    2. Welcome Aboard Briana. Great Post, and by the way, yes I know what game you’re referring to – thought it was a bit pointless too, lol, I used to ask friends if they knew what game I was referring to, and I would always get the unsure nods (so I stopped asking). I think it’s a bit more productive to have a networking approach.

Looking forward to reading some more posts.

      1. Lol I know what you mean with those unsure nods… I’m glad you know the one! I definitely prefer personal and productive networking as well. Thank you so much for you response, it means a lot! Look forward to more from you as well 🙂

    1. Like your blog! I tried commenting on your recent post but it wouldn’t let me… Kept thinking I was a bot. I wanted to comment on the guns and guns law post, agreed with it some and thought you may very well like my newest post. Also a perspective write on society. Well I had a well worded comment, but got blocked thinking I was a bot? I think this is a timely post and agree to some extent. Feel free to check out my recent post on how resentment is a part of problems in society and how we can build better self awareness toward it. https://inspirememomblog.wordpress.com/2017/10/06/could-forbes-5-ways-to-stop-resenting-other-peoples-success-bring-out-more-awareness-in-society/

      1. I will check out your post! I’ve had other friends have issues commenting, is there something I need to do to fix it, change a setting or something so it doesn’t think people are bots? I really don’t know much about this stuff!

      3. I read your post over the weekend and it rang true more than you could imagine. One of my biggest issues is comparing myself to other people. I’ve been working on a blog post about it, but am having a hard time not making it too negative or complainy. I will definitely check out some of the links you shared, and other posts on your blog, and maybe I’ll get some inspiration 🙂

      1. Thanks 🙂 I’ve had friends ask how to follow my blog, too, and ohldnt figure it out, though somehow I follow my own blog and get emails every time I post something new and don’t even know how I did it #facepalm. Do you know how I let people follow my blog, do I need to add a widget or something to my page?
I’ll check out your blog, too!

Just a quick reminder: you have some text widget at the bottom of your homepage. Be sure to check out all of your homepages/pages when editing for filler text. There’s a How To of sorts of updating your blog. https://learn.wordpress.com

Please let me know if I can help in any other way. All the best! 💫

    1. Really good article. Although you might want to check for punctuation and grammatical mistakes. I found few extra spaces as well. Fix that and it will improve the readability of your article.

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that.

    1. I clicked on your name and it sent me to a blog but I’m not sure that it is the right one, because it still had a lot of default-information in it, like :”This is your first blog post” etc, so maybe a good idea to post the link to your blog here in the comment section? 😊
