To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I’m always looking for unique blogs to follow that have an interesting theme or focus point that sets them apart from the rest. Yours is definitely one of them, and I look forward to learning from it. Particularly on a subject (i.e. trees), which although I love and understand the significance and importance of, I don’t know a ton about! Very much looking forward to seeing more.

    1. Such an interesting premise for a blog and your background (particularly educationally), is very interesting and will set you apart in the big, wide blogsphere! Looking forward to seeing more.

    2. Hey Jo, congratulations on your brand new blog and the first post. Lovely theme to start with. Just one suggestion is to add a “read more” tags to your posts in the future as you add more posts, otherwise your posts will clutter the home page.
      Good luck and keep posting!

    3. Hello there Jo! Welcome to the lovely space of blogging! I think you have got an amazing, unique platform and believe you won’t have any issues gaining followers. Wow. Your blog is neatly, almost expertly designed. The color scheme reminds me of the moon, too. Also, I really like your site title. I didn’t spot any filler text, so well done on that. Have you heard about the maximum rule of fifteen combined tags and categories, so that way new bloggers may find you? Let me know if you need any help and I’ll try my best. Thank you for sharing and all the best! 😃💫

  1. Hey newcomers! Just a tip: include a brief summary of what your blog is about with your link to let readers know more about you. Those with similar interests are more inclined to stop by that way. Happy Friday!!

    1. Hey Cheryl, checked your blog, nice posts!
As an improvement, please add “read more” tags to your posts so that only part of your posts show up on the home page instead of full post. This looks nice. Also the theme you have chosen kind of old styled, there are lot of themes available in theme store for free, try them out.
      Cheers and good luck!

      1. Oh, yes! will do. You are the second person to comment on my “old” theme…but I really like it! Do you know if there is a similar layout that’s more contemporary?

      2. Actually you could go to “My Sites” and “Themes”, this will load up all possible themes and ..try them out.. I have a blog post under “Wordpress” category in my blog, refer to it. Its easy to try before apply a theme.. HTH

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

An easy way to start cutting down: get rid of super-general tags like “me” or “blog.” Think more specifically about your post and what it’s really about, and think about what *you* would search for to find a post like this.

    1. Hey Arah…checked your blog, congratulations on brand new blog! …but you need to do little bit of customization. First, you have a text widget which needs to be configured. Also check those social icons, they can be pointed to your social sites or be deleted if you don’t want. Your about page also needs editing.. Please take care of them.
      Good luck.

    1. Such a refreshingly honest read. Thank you for sharing! I have lupus, so understand all too well the flares of an autoimmune disorder. I so look forward to reading more.

    2. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

      1. So crazy! I have had to deal with the nerve pain leftover from having a non-cancerous tumor condition in my leg so I am familiar with how lame nerve pain is. I’d lose my mind if I had to deal with it at Fibro-levels. Keep fighting the good fight! (again, no other choice, I know!)

    1. It’s so true! It’s tempting to just stay in the safe bubble that is unpublished posts…but once you take that leap, hit publish and start receiving feedback and constructive criticism, you quickly realize how supportive and beneficial it is to have this blogging community!

    1. Hi there. I don’t you you link worked. I went to click on it and it directed me to my own blog. And then when I clicked on your name, it said it was private. Perhaps you could make your blog public?

      Liked by 5 people

      1. I’m uncertain what happened. Your second link works. However, your first link and your name was both private. Not sure what happened. Thanks for the new link. I’ll check it out more in depth.

      2. I like the layout of your blog! It sounds like you’re on quite the adventure and sound make some intriguing concepts to blog about.

I would still potentially play around with uncovering why your name links to your dashboard, which is private, and why you first link doesn’t work. We want people to be able to find you!

Have you heard about using tags and categories in your posts? It helps other people with similar interests discover you. However, it’s important to note that WordPress filters posts as spam if one uses more than a combined fifteen tags and categories.

Let me know if you have any further questions. Best of luck and happy blogging! 😃💫

      1. Hey Bex! Thanks so much for the good wishes, likewise with yours! You have excellent writing skills…..so you have been told no lies! Oh really??? See what I mean by alien to me?! I had no idea. DO you know if I add that through themes?? Sorry to ask!

      2. On the same page that you go to edit your post, to the left, you should see a Sharing menu. Go there and check Show Like Button. You may want to also check Show Share Button ’cause you never know!

    1. Please leave a link of your first post. You wrote your heart out. The post was pure. It is rare nowadays. You can customize themes and add widgets to make your blog more attractive. I loved your honesty.

  5. Hi I’m Paul and I’m starting a me travel blog. Of to Thailand soon if anyone wants to follow my journey. Also a bit of free writing that kind of thing. Just got it off the ground and I’m going in a couple of weeks. Thanks!!

    1. I followed as I’m also a new travel blogger. I did notice there is a blank text widget when I scrolled to the bottom of your page. It looks like you just need to look through your widgets and add something to the text widget or delete/change it to a different widget.

      Liked by 5 people

      1. Personally I would remove the widget until you’re ready to use it. Or you could put useful links to interesting sites relevant to your content or a quote or something. Just a suggestion.

    1. I would be interested to read your blog. Maybe add a widget like GTranslate or add a plugin that allows non-German speakers to translate your site to their native language so more people can read it.

      Liked by 3 people

      1. Thank you so much for the hint, I actually hadn’t thought of that. I added the GTranslate widget to the bottom of the page now. You’re welcome to read my blog 🙂

  6. So I participated in first Friday last week but I was two days late. I only started blogging 1 week ago. I have always been filled with words and opinions that need to be voiced out. I believe this is the perfect platform for me. Feed back is welcome since I’m only a baby in this field.
