To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi. I took a look at your blog and it looks very nice. You have some great information there with respect to your products.

One thing I noticed is that you have some broken links to your etsy site. This should be easy to take care of in your link editor by removing everything before the second ‘https’
      Example:
      https://www.equinecat.com/labor-day-2017-top-horse-items/1.https://www.etsy.com/listing/501215210/handmade-decorative-horse-racing-linen

Good luck and I hope this helps.

    2. Your blog is spectacularly designed and well put together! I’m the slightest bit jealous, but in a good way (if such a thing can be!) haha. Your layout is lively yet easy to read and navigate. I also think you’ve got a unique content to blog about. So I wish you the warmest luck and happy blogging!

    1. I like the simplicity of the design and font you chose, it really allows your bright, conversational writing to shine through. I can’t help but feel a kinship with you given the many connections between our post content. I literally just wrote a piece on self doubt. Synchronicity! Neato. All the best on your blogging journey!

      2. Yes, it’s quite a unique sensation and one I didn’t expect. The sense of connection between writers on here is probably my favorite part of WordPress. It makes continuing to fight with the glitchy app worth it! (stop eating my words, dammit. I know words are tasty, WP app, but I need those!)

    5. Interesting blog. You tell the truth. At the end of a relationship, we have to ask if it was real love or casual lust in order to move one to better. It will allow us to simply work on not making the same mistakes in other relationships. I enjoyed readings your thoughts.

    1. Really nice post and the writing style is great. Only comment is the length of the post. If it is too long a lot of people will just give up so I find splitting it down and posting regularly works well 😁
Looking forward to reading more! 👍🏻

I also needed to give you some kudos for the superb quality you’re posting. I gave you a follower because you appear right up my ally. I look forward to see more from you. 1. It’s a fun blog, and very very serious too. I like that it’s eclectic: short posts, long posts, wide-ranging facts from bits to in-depth. Makes a person think.I also like the way you run with the daily word prompts. I do them too and I’ve read a few others — it’s interesting how so many people can come up with something different on the same word.

  2. Hi everyone! My name is Christine, and I’ve just started a new blog called “50by60” (http://50by60.com). It’s all about my efforts to lose 50 pounds before I reach the ripe old age of 60.

It’s NOT my first blog. The Internet is littered with the dead or dying remains of my previous blogs. However, this is the first one I’ve actually PAID for, so hopefully that’ll motivate me to stick with it this time! 😀

  3. Hello everyone, don’t know how to define my blog just yet other than it will be an outlet for creativity in all its possible facets and in its own time. It has newly become something where I will explore my identity, issues and truths. Explore the world as I try and navigate it.

I will be including my Youtube content, this will be anything from DIY’s, to style videos, to personal stories.

My blog will grow as I do. This was quite impromptu (I initially planned to make it a website for just my YouTube content) and I now want it to be more than that so I’m learning the ropes of blogging so the landscape of my blog may change.

I invite you all on this journey and will appreciate support and feedback.

  4. Hello Everyone,
I was encouraged by my sister to start blogging as a daily creative practice. That was four weeks ago and I glad I did it. I post a daily sketch with a brief story about the inspiration. I have grown so much artistically and appreciate how nurturing this community is. Here is my first blog:

    A love story

    1. I am insanely pleased your sister encouraged you to begin blogging because you have a BEAUTIFUL blog. Seriously!!!! I have always wished I inherited the drawing genes but alas I did not. You, however, are immensely gifted. I look forward to seeing where you continue to take us as you blog. I only took a sneak peek but I’m awed. But what I have viewed is so fantastic, I’m nearly at a loss for words. I feel as if I am doing you a disservice by simply fawning over it without any substantial feedback. I promise once I’m over my shock and awe I’ll be able to articulate better. Ha! 🙂 Will return later to appreciate it even more thoroughly. Thank you for sharing and happy blogging. Cheers!

    2. Hi there, looks like a wonderful start to your blogging journey. Don’t be afraid to write, I understand how daunting it may be, for I have my fair share of dead blogs strewn across the internet, each abandoned after a couple weeks.

Just some things to point out:

      1. The following message appears on the right – “It looks like the WordPress site URL is incorrectly configured. Please check it in your widget settings.”, so you might want to check that out.

      2. The word ‘blog’ was misspelt as ‘bolg’ in your frist post, “My commencement”. Just a small issue but it’s nice to have it rectified anyways.

Otherwise keep up the good work! You’re doing great :’) I likewise am new the community so glad that we’re supporting each other like this.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

  7. Hello there, everyone! it’s been three days since i started and i’d love more feedback on my blog. the blog is about me, a teen, that sees the world from a bit of a unique perspective. i like to call myself a “deductionist”. deduction is a skill that I’ve never seen anybody my age attend to learn. people think it’s a skill for detectives only but i personally believe that it can be far more than that. it could be used to learn about a person before talking to them. figuring out what happened in a certain situation to understand what’s going on. and obviously for showing off ;). i write about deduction as a whole and how it was able to help me kill my boredom and make me enjoy my life a bit more. I’m also working on a story called ‘the young deductionist” the reflects my personality but in a fictional way. hope you enjoy your time :).
here’s the link to my last post:
    https://teenlife2000s.wordpress.com/2017/08/11/my-first-deduction-of-a-situation/

P.S: please reply in case you have checked my blog. i’d be more than happy to check yours as well

    1. Wow… I also like to deduce people based on their acts, and their sayings. Really love the way that you step up this art of deduction into a blog. I recommend that you read up on some Sherlock, and some books on body language and psychology, you can thank me later, and apply them into your daily life, your eyes would see more than average. Hope to see more from your. Have hope, write on!

      1. Thank you! Sherlock is my inspiration for starting all yo learn all of this as when I knew that his abilities can actually be learned I looked up anyway to find a place to learn and I did. I learned the most important parts and the rest is just practice.

      2. Hi, zeckrombryan! A quick note — it’d be great it you could avoid the repeated “Hope you would visit my blog during your free times” comments, for a few reasons: since you’re so helpful and supportive, it’s quite likely that folks are visiting you without the push, the repeated comments take the focus away from the truly new folks, and since there are so many of the same comment, the site interprets them as spam. And I’d hate for all your helpful comments to get stuck in the spam filters! Thanks.

    1. I have to admit that your drawings are exquisite but when it comes to your calligraphy, it needs some improvements, like you need to make your words come to life even more then just stroking those lines with power that do not suffice the life of the art. Great start. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    1. One tip as you get started — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on oneof your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad!

If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers. Tags like “new” or “review” aren’t really helpful because they’re so broad — think about what words you would search for if you were looking for a post like yours.
