First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi Fahad, I like the idea behind your blog except I find it slightly hard to look for all the posts. Maybe there is only one post till now, since you are new blogger – like most here. Or maybe I missed the links. But please keep writing your work and wisdom are awesome and necessary for our society today.

    2. Hey welcome to blogging world and congratulations. Since you talked about Instagram pictures, why don’t you add the Instagram widget to your blog? (Check my blog if you dont know what it is)Also you see there are lot of social icons on your blog you can connect them to your social channels. Hope this helps..

    1. Hey .. nice blog and posts already.. doing good job. Since you are an actress why not have your portfolio with pictures etc? Also I advise you to have contact page, so that people can contact you directly.
Keep posting and good luck on blog as well as career!

    1. Nice blog and already lot of interesting posts. Since you tend to write longer posts, I advise you to add “Read more” tags to your posts that way home page looks tidy and people dont have to scroll the whole post to navigate to next post.
      Hope this helps… good luck.!

    1. Hello! 🙂 I’m taking it that your blog’s meant to be a source for a book you’ve written??! It’s very well done. Your writing style fits the subject and I’ll have to come back to see some more. Also, I adore your layout! It’s very simple and chic. Doesn’t overwhelm the viewers at all. Well done! Thank you for sharing and happy blogging! 💫

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to view one of your posts, then clicking on My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    2. We’re glad you’re so excited about your new blog (yay!), and that you shared your link here. We’d appreciate it if you didn’t leave multiple comments linking to your blog — it’s considered a little spammy and we’ll remove the additional posts. The best way to get people to visit you is to visit them and/or leave them some meaningful feedback!

    1. Hey nice interesting posts and the images… But the navigation to to your blog is kind of confusing. There is not actual home page for your blog where it would list out all your posts.. I not sure if you wanted to have this type of setup on purpose..
      Hope this helps… Good luck!

      1. Thank you, Raj! My original goal was to have separate sections for posts similar to the layout of a magazine or newspaper-but I’m happy to get feedback on how this appears to the actual reader. I’ll give some thought to how I might simplify things!

    2. Your blog needs some proofreading. You can break your last two paragraphs and write three or four smaller ones, it’ll be easier to read. Good luck and keep publishing.

    1. Welcome to blogging! Don’t forget to proofread your post before publishing. Update your fonts. Leave space before and after images. Write an about-me page and keep publishing. Good luck!

      1. Thank you very much! 🙂 I only had a couple of days to work on it before I left my home and computer on my current travel (and have been exclusively working via app since then), so that makes me very proud! 🙂

    1. I like your style of writing. It is genuine and thought provoking, and I appreciate that you see the value of simply reading a book (from your other post), an appreciation I think we have in common.

  2. Hello to everyone,
This is my final week of being able to post here,
I’ve set myself a challenge to post everyday for 365 days via the daily prompt as influence (sometimes in ways that showcase how my mind works outside of the box)
Most of it is a variation of free verse poetry, but doing this has enabled me to converse with people around the world and round some amazing posts be it stories/advice/poems and everything imaginable, so a big thanks to anyone how has taken the time to view anything I’ve posted and an even bigger thanks for being an amazingly receptive and encouraging community,

  3. THE MILIEUX PROJECT – Being the change we seek in the world
https://themilieux.org/ hi everyone! New blog I am hoping to generate interest in being a woman in the AF and flying with some “co-bloggers”. We feel like the USAF and the DoD gets some bad press as it relates to women in general and flying so we wanted to start something that celebrated our achievements this far and encouraged others to be interested and maybe even join us. I’m definitely interested in feedback!! Please 🙂 Thank you for reading!

    1. Great posts and please continue your project. I’m happy to have found you- I’m an engineer working in construction and have come up against exactly the same issues as a woman and now as a mother. Very proud of you and grateful to you for sharing your stories.

    1. Hi! You have the text widget in your footer, if you don’t want to use it right now, then you could delete it by customizing the theme! This would make the page more organized. Happy Blogging!
