To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hey guys,

It’s been a good first month of blogging. This is the post that kicked it off. It’s not too long, if you like it feel free to like and follow my page; there’s a little something for everybody. Recently, I’ve started a new segment focusing on publishing ‘Good News’, stories that are positive and reflective rather than negative and depressing.

    Here’s the post: https://blogsstuff.com/2017/06/tomorrow-i-may-die/

    Many thanks,

You reminded me, that I’m doing this for me. . to write about what inspires me and the right audience will find me. Great start Danny.

      1. We’ve all felt like that for sure Sylvia. As you said, there’s a reason different niches exist; it’s always best to be yourself rather than pretend to be something else.

        Keep going!

  2. Hello fellow bloggers! So its been nearly a month since started blogging. It feels really amazing. The blogging community is so supportive. Anyways, it would be SO great if you checkout my new poem-BURY(Yes, its based on the daily prompt) I hope you like the way I interpreted it.

    1. Enjoyed your poem “Are you an Over Thinker” most. It really captures some sleepless times for me, and it makes me think about what i spend my time on at the expense of the “real world cost.” Great start, Oh i have to mention, the only thing I’d suggest is moving Game of Thrones to the the number one spot of the fandoms .. lol. Just kidding. It was a great list and you are off to a great start!

    1. The steps on how to get started with community service were great. So many of us think we have to be able to do something grand or give a lot of money to help our community, but little things matter, and the greatest gifts we can give is our time and our knowledge.

As i looked over the blog as a whole you look to be off to a great start: great header, great theme and lots of great content already. One suggestion is to consider your mobile, on the go, readers by trying to break up long paragraphs into shorter ones. It really helps with longer posts.

It looks like you have lots of positive and helpful information to share. I look forward to more of your posts.

My suggestion is to have a about and the contact page. Also you have text saying “Follow Us” but you have not provided any buttons to follow you. Add a Follow Widget instead.
      Good luck!

    3. Loved your post Trespassing! I absolutely agree. Technology has a mesmerizing hold on us – disconnecting, even if only a few hours a day, allows us to truly open our minds and form our own thoughts rather than the ones that are force fed to us through the media.

    4. Hi, and welcome!

We’re glad you’re so excited about your new blog (yay!), and that you shared your link here. We’d appreciate it if you didn’t leave multiple comments linking to your blog — it’s considered a little spammy and they’ll be removed. The best way to get people to visit you is to visit them and/or leave them some meaningful feedback!

  4. Hello!
I’ve only been blogging for 7 days, and I’ve already posted 4 times. Am I going too fast? Haha, I don’t know. This is my first time venturing into this realm. So I’ll be linking down below my very first post, and if you like it, please go through the others ( they’re really short, I promise) . So I mostly write short poems/ fiction as of now. Im also going to be posting inspirational quotes and messages everyday, and I hope to expand into lifestyle blogging and be a platform for people to support others through mental illnesses and strife.
    More on that –

    1. Hello and welcome to the blogging community!! I took a quick peek inside because I wanted to reply back to you before I even saw your blog. 😃 Please feel free to post as frequently or as infrequently as possible! I don’t think posting four times in the last week is too much; then again, I post daily. To each their own, right? 🙂
I look forward to checking out the rest of your posts! I like your voice because it’s honest and lets your audience connect to you. Best of luck as you continue forward! 💫

    2. Welcome to the blog world. Already 4 posts! That’s Great!
I enjoyed reading your “I” post. I also enjoyed “Diary of a Logophile.”

You mentioned having 4 posts, I wanted to read them all, but couldn’t quite figure out how to get to them. It could be user error on my end. Consider, though, adding a menu near the top or in your sidebar that will help us navigate a little more easily.

Also a small thing, but I know you want things to be perfect-the light font in the sidebar gets a little lost with the background. Try some different colors that will help it stand out.

Good Luck, with your writing style and love of writing, you will do well.

    3. Blogging isn’t about posting everyday, but dishing out good content that keeps your readers glued. Pick perculiar days that work well with you, so your readers know when to expect new content from you. Blogging is so fun, I hope you enjoy it!

    4. Hey nice post Nishtha like your style of writing…
But once your post is accessed there is no way to go to your homepage.. Probably you should add a menu and add “Home” to it. Also about and contact pages also recommended. Site title also highly recommend..
Try using the daily prompts and those fiction challenges..as you are writing more poems and fiction..
Hope this helps … good luck!

    5. Love your posts! I also write about similar topics (: Just as a suggestion, it would be nice to add in a “home” button, as well as buttons for your categories. As of now, it is not particularly easy to navigate your site and read all your posts.

    1. I love that you are sharing this journey. SOOOO many people including myself can relate to this. We all need to be healthy and most of us have experienced the frustrations, the wins and the setbacks of what you are doing. Hell, I’m trying to find the energy and motivation to start all over again myself.

So I’ve followed you because this journey is important and I want to see the wins and maybe offer support through the frustrating times. Hell maybe even join you and get going again myself.

In addition to posting about your progress, consider more information about your journey. . .What wins did you have this week? You mention changing habits, which ones did you change, how did it go, how did you do it, how do you feel after changing a particular habit, how did it affect your progress? Are you cooking more? what recipes did you try and really enjoy that we might enjoy? If you are not cooking, how did you manage? We might learn something here to help us manage.

Anyway, as you can see, I’m in. Can’t wait until your next update. I wish you most success in the blogging and in your health journey!

      1. oh and pictures.. i said too much and forgot to mention, consider adding pictures. Not progress pics (that’s personal and completely up to you) but maybe the portion sizes that you spoke about. . what the family does, what it should be. . . something like that.

    1. That is a very interesting topic. I learnt Japanese for 10 weeks and then stopped because I couldn’t keep up with uni on top of that. Followed you and I hope I will learn new things 🙂

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

(We try to keep this space as focused as we can on the really new folks, so at this point, I encourage you to visit the Community Pool — it’s another weekly post where any bloggers can give/get feedback on any aspect of blogging: https://wordpress.com/dailypost/category/community-pool/)

  5. Coming to the end of my second week now, not so much blogging more a place for me to turn some imagery into words, be it poetry or free form expression, didn’t realise how much it would help me internalise my own thoughts and fears, and how to be able to find a community of like minded and creatively talented people would inspire me to find a path I’ve always wanted to walk but never before had the courage.

    1. Hello and welcome! Also, big congrats on making it to the end of your second week! 😃 I took a look around your blog and at first thought it was a little plain; HOWEVER, I would like to amend it and say that the simplicity of the layout works tremendously! It’s all about your content, which is lovely and touching by the way, and I see why you went the route you did. Thanks so very much for sharing! Happy blogging! 💫

      1. Thank you, i messed about with it quite a bit at the start and then settled on the idea of imagery for both the title of the work and the picture to set a tone was what worked for me.

  6. Hi there!
This is such a great way to meet other bloggers! If I’d known how supportive the blogging community was, I would’ve started it ages ago!

Well I’ll start with who I am: Carol, 31 and I’m a mother and wife. I am a mother to baby Madeleine who is 1 year old in a few weeks. My blog is a journey of our life as parents and how everything has basically changed in our lives! I hope you guys like it 😊😊😊 I love blogging so much that I’m blogging more than my initial goal of once a week!

You can be honest:)
