If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      1. I have a question about the Community Pool. Is there a limited time to join the conversation? Every time I try to join in I get a bit confused as to how to comment. Plus it usually says the comments are closed. Or am I doing something wrong here?

I’m a bit embarrassed since I’m very familiar with the WordPress blogging platform, however, I’m just now trying to participate within the community.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      2. Each Community Pool thread is open for a week, and you’re free to jump it at any time. Every Monday morning, we close the comments from the previous week and start a new post. If you miss one week, join us the next! Commenting works the same way it does in First Friday; you can leave a new comment with a question, or respond to anyone you’d like.

    1. It’s a cool looking site you have got there and posts are great, I read and commented. I don’t know if it’s me alone but I like when there post are layered using paragraphs, it helps the reading go smoothly rather than finding what line I am on after a while, maybe because I use phone most times. Kudos and welcome to WP community!

      1. haha careful what you wish for! All I did was let you KNOW that your pleasure goes at someone’s cost. You’re old enough to understand but unfortunately not mature enough to see it for what it is. Being mindful when talking of the ‘little’ things doesn’t hurt a little – compared to what I shared with you.

    2. Hello

I like your site! Simple, visual, and your tagline makes it very clear what your writing is about! Good luck with your adventures – writing and otherwise – and I am following you now 🙂

    3. Does the name of your blog come from californication? And the simplicity of your site is what’s the most attractive thing about it and I read some of the blogs they’re amazing. Everyone I see seems to be so so good just at the beginning….you’ll do good, I’m sure!

    1. What you are planning sounds similar to what i’ve just recently started myself. What I do is carry around a little note book and jot down notes about comments made in my day or things of interest I see. When I have time, I write a usually unfinished draft in the book then transfer to the site in finished form. I was using my phone and even an audio log once but I found it much faster to just flip a pocket book out and scribble a few words rather than unlocking my phone and scrolling to a note app and then typing out notes. Maybe the latter works better for you. I encourage you to try both.

    2. Thank you for all the likes, comments and follows, guys! However, I’ve just noticed that everyone who clicked ‘follow’ is now following my OLD blog cakesatmidnight.com! My NEW blog threelittlebirdsonline.com doesn’t seem to have a follow button :(. Is there someone more experienced who can help? My site is hosted by Bluehost – do I have to create a form? TIA!

    1. Hi! Which tags did you use? Using several tags is helpful. Just make sure to use lessthan 15 or they won’t show up in the reader. Tags like “poetry, creative writing, poem” will help you get noticed by the right readers.

      2. There are many who go off the beaten path. Just add to you categories. Hey I had to post on Super Hero’s the I found it to be National Super Hero Day. I freaking love em. So out of my norm. Got a lot of reads. More than I thought. So I added, random spouts. Just write. You don’t have to be happy all the time to write. We arw humans, and no one is happy day in day out. Write from your heart. Your blog will be great!! 💗

      4. There ya go, if you need to write about it write about it. Knacker the crap out of it. I thought mine would not stay from my sobriety, but man it is a hard write. When reading my realease from jail to my now husband, I began tearing up. It is healing yet hard. So I may one of those that people are like whoa where did that come from. Just a random spout. I have to stray or I may not get through the whole story. We made with myriad of emotions, those who write I believe wear them different. Creative people always seem to have all weird emotional stuff. It is good it can fuel or prompt, and help it feed our posts. Go for it!! 💗☕👍
