Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. This was great. And so true. My words of wisdom to myself are just to walk away. If I find myself offended, and no children or animals are being harmed in the act of the offense, I save myself the trouble. Or I drink a lot of vodka. Either way, the feeling passes.

    2. Hey there!
I read your posts and even commented on your latest one.
Personally, I found your whole blog amazing. You can put words to your thoughts so well that I was actually jealous. But it was a good kind of envy. 😉
Although, I commented on your latest post, my favourite was your second last post. “Is it me?” I could relate to it so damn well. But then I guess, every girl can. I couldn’t help but click the follow button.
I have only one suggestion; the format your second latest post was of, I think it’d have been a lot more catchy if you would put some of the lines in quotes. I find it very attractive. But of course, I’m a new blogger so you can ignore my suggestion if it’s not right. I only spoke my mind. 🙂
Maybe you too could visit my blog and check out any of my posts if you like them. 🙂

    3. Loved this! I have been wanting to write a post on this same topic and you did it so well!! It was a little long, but I like to read so it didn’t bother me one bit. I love how you brought it full circle too!

    4. You write beautifully! I am now following you as I love the fact no topic is off limit and that your writing is so fresh and honest! So rare these days! I also love your choice of pictures! Are they all yours? I write about art (and life!) appreciation, very new at this so grateful for any feedback to improve! http://reinventingrid.wordpress.com

  1. Hello Community Pool
    James from ‘James Proclaims’ here.
I’ve just written one of my better posts. Admittedly the bar wasn’t set too high before, but still, I’m mildly proud of it. You might like it too. Why not read it and find out?

    1. Good marathon post 😛 I read the first one to some time ago I believe, or maybe it was only last week… I forgot 😛 Nice!

    1. Gorgeous! Love your outdoor photos! I just rented a DSLR camera for the first time for our travels and had no clue what the heck I was doing! But the photos came out will. I look forward to following along with you.

      1. Thank you! Good luck on the learning process. I recommend familiarizing yourself with how to effectively use the aperture and shutter speed. Pretty basic but a great place to start.

    2. I really liked the photographs and the post in general to be honest. The humour was nice and not too OTT. I do love a good photograph even though I am not that great at taking them myself.

    1. Hello Bill! It’s nice to stumble upon your blog! Although I do not keep up with the political news, it would now great to follow up through your blog’s posts! I really like how you have designed your blog. One suggestion, if I may give to you, is that instead of having a plain background in black (on the top of the page), you could add some design on the same black background. That was my feedback.
Also, I would love for you to check out my blog, and provide your feedback on the blog design. Thank you so much, have a great week ahead!

    2. Hey! I really liked your post. It was interesting and the images were really entertaining xD the design of your site is also great. I did notice a couple of typos (there is a full stop in the middle of a sentence in the first paragraph). Also I wouldn’t quote Wikipedia because it’s a really unreliable site. Otherwise I thought your post was great 😀 xx

  2. Good afternoon fellow bloggers, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

My name is Mark and I am reaching out to all those reading and writing enthusiasts who would like to join me on this literal rollercoaster.

Since self-publishing my first novel over a year ago, I have been well and truly bitten by the writing bug. I am currently working on my second book which is the first in a new series of crime/thriller novels.

I have also just launched an exciting COMPETITION which gives my followers a chance to be involved in the finished article. Please do stop by if you have the time and check out my blog for more information.

Your support as always is very much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Take care,

    Mark

    1. I can agree on all these 3 aspects you’ve mentioned. Cheating is a big problem but I think it has to do with the university system in general. Consider deleting the link to Instagram since your account is private and therefore there is no need for it! 🙂

    2. This was really interesting to read. I’m from NZ and completed my degree a few years ago and cheating was really uncommon. Thanks for bringing the issue to my attention to think about

    3. Your article was so very relatable. I had much of the same perspective before entering University. I thought University will be a place where people will focus on learning because they have finally narrowed their field down. However, it was the exact opposite. I see almost every single person complaining about even the easiest of assignments.

      1. It is! When our enrollment week arrives, all my senior warns us about certain teachers and they make these instructors look so evil. However, they turn out to be really good. It’s just they expect hardwork from you. That’s it.

  3. Do you find getting older difficult? Has aging been not treating you well, or is it something you don’t look forward to? Have people been making it harder for you, making remarks on your appearance perhaps?

I discuss this and more in the following post. Would be great if you read it and tell me what you think!

    1. I have not yet fallen victim of critics of my age, but this entry helped prepare me and provided a good outlook. Your writing is incredible! I like the minimalism and the rhetorical questions. Stay cool

      1. I know 🙈🙈🙈. I didn’t notice that comments were turned off for my last 3 posts and by the time I noticed, it was useless. I don’t know how to turn them on for the old posts, but I have turned them on for any posts I do in the future. 🙈🙈🙈

    1. Hey there, bilingual vegetable!
I found your writings (random thoughts, poetry, rants) very cool (for the lack of a better word xP).
Maybe you can categorize your posts which will make your blog more organised. Just a thought!
Please take some time and swing by my blog too. Let me know what you think of it!
      Xoxo 😀

      1. Hey, thanks for reading all my random Thoughts and all, and well, I’m not really tech savvy, so I have no idea how to organise the blog. The max I could do was categorise them differently. Thank you for taking the time to comment though. I’ll definitely check your blog out because you seem pretty cool yourself 😁😁😁

  4. Hi all, it’s been a slow week for me in terms of posting but I’ve still got plenty of pieces that I’d love for you to read and give me feedback on. For convenience, there’s a handy menu on the top right hand side of my home page. Hope you enjoy! Let me know if you want feedback from me also please 🙂 Matt. X

  5. I write from the abyss of darkness,
    Bringing forth the Musings untold,
With words stolen from yesterday’s stroms,
    Draped in chaotic songs!

If you folks are into dark writings, short stories, micro tales and poems of extreme plot twists,
Please take a glimpse into the darkness! 😏

    Much love! xoxo ✌

    1. Haha girl I LOVE Disney! I worked there for 4 months through the Disney College Program during my undergrad. It was the best experience! I worked at Captain EO and Journey into Imagination with Figment in Epcot 🙂 Following along!

      1. Why wait? I think most people looking for new stuff to read will check the comments. If the blogger doesn’t reply to them or only a few of them that doesn’t encourage the visitor to follow or stay around, regardless of how good the blog is.

  6. Good afternoon everyone! It’s Monday again, the last of this month. Just three weeks and it will be Spring! Can’t wait for that. I recently post an interesting article about Fringe Dwellers. I didn’t know I am one. Word for word it explains the way I am and also answers questions I was asking myself for the longest time. I was not familiar with the term before and didn’t know there is a proper name for the likes of me. Now I understand.

    1. Your article is damn good! I like your style of writing with lots of metaphors and imagery. The next thing to do for your blog is to customize it! Change or delete the text widgets at the bottom, set up the home page, write something about you, and set up a contact file! You have great possibilities!

      1. My mistake was that my hair were too long because I thought they needed to be really long, so I would suggest having them about 1/2 inch long. Take an Ibuprofen an hour before going. Do not go a week before your period or during due to hormonal influx causing sensitivity. I would suggest to go right after your period is over and get it over with. it gets easier after the first one. And Just breath! Good Luck
