First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. The photography looked clear to me. I was interested to read about how many years you’ve been making jewellry. It inspired me to think about doing more with my hands too for some creative peace.

    1. I like your sense of humor. =]

One thing, though. I notice you use a lot of tags. I’m pretty sure wordpress doesn’t list posts with something like more than 16(?) tags to avoid spammers, so be careful about that!

    2. Hey there. Anxiety and depression are also recurrent themes for me. I’m sure I’ll love your blog. If you find the manual to adulthood share with your new follower, please 🙂 Good luck!

      1. Hi Cheila! I’m always happy to find fellow friends with experience with anxiety and depression. It really helps you know? I know I will love your blog as well and that theme is beautiful!

Still looking for the manual but I will be sure to share it 🙂 . Thanks for the love!

    4. For some reason as I skimmed through your bio I initially read that you were mom to three dogs and a rock. I raised my eyebrows and thought, ‘Well that’s different. At least a rock is low maintenance’ but then I realised the sentence continued and I had to go back and re-read it and now part of me feels like an idiot, and part of me thinks I need a pet rock in my life.

I am also a theme hopper and I also wonder WHERE THE HELL MY MANUAL IS (hence the name of my blog) so I think we’ll get along famously! Nice to meet you!

      1. Hi Quinn!! 😂😂😂😂 I busted up laughing at your comment – I mean perhaps I DO NEED a pet rock too!? Why the hell not? The options are quite literally limitless!

We for sure will get along famously! Thank you so much for the support, visit and laughs!!! Can’t wait to chat again! 🙏🏻❤️

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://relationship823.wordpress.com/

You’ll also want to make sure you have the right link in your profile, so people can find you by clicking on your name. You can update that here: https://wordpress.com/me/public-profile/

    2. Looks good to me! Especially the pic of the cupcakes. I’m sure you’re still playing with the theme settings, etc., but I’ll just mention that there is still default text on the side for the widget. If you check it out, you can make categories or other cool things with it.

    1. Hint: include the http:// bit of your blog’s address, and you’ll get a clickable link when you publish the comment. Voila:

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, on the right — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

      Welcome 🙂

    1. Omg! I could totally relate! I was the same! (Still am kinda). People thought I would soon give up blogging like other things. But, blogging is so much fun! You will love it!

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using quite a lot of tags of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find you. If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

      Welcome!

    1. This is true but I always find it so hard to strike the balance, mostly because I always feel that by being selfish I’m hurting other people’s feelings. Even when I’m not! I still feel that way. I’m trying to grow out of the guilt complex but it’s taking its time….!

    1. Hi Emilee. I looked at your blog and the first thing I noticed is that your font is very small. It’s your call, but I’d advise a larger one.

To change font size or style, go to the pop-up menu on the left where you add new posts, etc. (So go to your (Site Admin.) Click on Themes, then Customize. You’ll get a selection for Header, Colors and Background, etc.

Click on the font bar. this will open a window that will show you your font & size options. You can pick the one you like best and the up the size a bit, if you want. (My apologies if you already know all this.)

      Happy blogging!

  3. Early last year i thought of starting my own blog not just a blog but a blog that expresses my love for fashion and art… it took time to start maybe of the things that held me back like fear and even made up exuses to start something i have never tried or something i never thought i could try (trying not step out of my comfort zone)..but this year i made up my mind coz fear would make me regret later and make me a failure in achieving my goal…i find it easy to express myself by styling myself (and sometimes even my  family and friends)…i admit i have a problem with talking to people (socialising)..my first day in university was pretty bad i couldn’t get along with people very well thats when i started using my phone by going through instagram pages of people who used their pages to showcase their talent in paintings styling themselves and designing clothes…most of these men and women had a link of their blogs on their instagram pages and i got to see more what they were sharing in their social media platforms showing me a way to express myself….i thank the ones who supported me in this
