If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

      Welcome!

      1. I like this! I know nothing about IVF female or male so it’s interesting to read about! Also I’m your age and nowhere near ready to go there so I’m happy to read about it from a safe distance…

      2. PS did you post a question about aliens a few weeks ago? I wrote a long reply, and then accidentally deleted your comment because I had no idea what I was doing with wordpress notifications at the time…!

    1. I love your first post. I feel somewhat invested in the outcome now that I’ve read it… and I’m half way around the world in Colorado. Awesome to see some dude support around the process of IVf.

    1. My best friend is a photographer and after several years is finally cracking the scene and getting work. It’s a rewarding hobby that can be a lucrative career if your cards are played well. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on your progress. Great work so far 🙂

    1. Looks like you’re on the right track, but your About page has the generic message still posted. I would write a blurb about what readers will expect from your blog. If you don’t want to, then I would just delete it. Happy blogging!

    1. I did notice on the home page that the description area under you About and Contact tabs still have a generic message that you probably want to change. Other than that, looks great!

    1. I love that you stated you’re not writing for you readers, but for yourself. Anyone with a blog needs to share this sentiment; it’s what great blogs are all about. Catchy name, too!

    2. I started out trying to go with a theme, but it came out much better when I just went with what I felt like. I’ve started developing reoccurring categories to keep up with daily content goals, but I get better reception from the ones that just came from the moment. I enjoyed your notions, and I’m cuddling my puppy extra close tonight… keep doing what you do, the site looks great!

    3. Yay, you! Welcome! I started out thinking my blog was going to be about one thing because “experts” tell you to niche. I’m having more fun not doing that. I hope you continue writing and enjoying this blogosphere and write for yourself! 🙂

    4. My only constructive criticism would be that you can’t just mention Sadie and not have a photo of her! What are you, a MONSTER? But that’s just me. I love dogs. Anything can be improved with the addition of a dog photo. Like, if I could add a dog photo to this comment, I guarantee that would make it approximately 87% better.

      You know it’s true.

    5. Welcome!

One piece of feedback — you might consider giving your posts titles that tell us a little more about what’s in the post. As a potential reader, “Second blog post” doesn’t give me much incentive to click. You’re writing good stuff, so don’t sell yourself short with the titles.

    1. Welp, you got that out of the way, and you’ve dressed up your blog so that it feels more like your home for a while. Welcome to the WordPress community. We’ve got cookies – well, we’ve got cookie recipes, you’ll have to make the cookies yourself. Sorry.

      1. I attempt to blog daily as I have found this to be very therapeutic to me and hopefully some people out there can relate to my story and know that they are not alone. Thanks for the follow. Bruce

  1. Happy Friday! I’m new here, but I already love it. I’m trying to challenge myself. Previously I’ve been closed up lots and keeping to myself, but I wanna share and talk to people, real life and on here. I’ve opened up about education fails, anxiety and depression – and I’ve been posting about stuff that makes me happy.

    1. First days of school were always awkward.
I’m also new to this, so trying is all that matters! 🙂 You may want to put your direct website link in the comment so people can reach you easier.

    1. I was very happy to read your new year, new resolutions post – and I came across your “Hygge”-post too. I’m Danish so I thought it interesting to see your thoughts and experiences. Liked your blog lots – and I will definitely be following for more 🙂

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s footer, at the bottom — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!
