To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Look like you’ve posted a link to your preview, which only you can see — make sure you share the link to the public, published post!

(If you’re not sure how to get the correct link, just ask 🙂 )

I also noticed that your blog’s home page has lots of placeholder text on it. You can find your theme’s details here: https://wordpress.com/themes/goran — it’ll help you learn to customize and configure all the parts of your home page.

  1. Hey I’m new to blogging and this is something I really wanted to share. A lot of people go through depression and it’s serious. My best friend went through depression and she is battling it the right way. This post gives an insight to how society can make someone’s life hell

      1. I enjoyed your story! One improvement you must make is to do a proper About page, stating your first name (at least), gender, your general address (state), and a few blog goals or things about yourself.
You’ve used tags but not categories. Think of a filing cabinet where Categories are the drawers and Tags are subject sections. I wish I’d known this when I started blogging, but if you do your “filing” right from the beginning, you’ll be a lot more organized.
Then install a Recent Posts widget to make your blog more reader-friendly. Go to your WP Admin, to Appearance, to Widgets. Then click on the “Recent Posts” bar and drag it over to an empty slot on the sidebar on the left. Then Click “Save changes.” Recent Posts and a Category widget help your readers to know, without scrolling all the way back, what you’ve written about lately.
Best wishes for happy blogging. 🙂

      2. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar (on the right side) — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

  2. Are the friends you share music with really a mind-controlling internet cult? This was my first post on what I think will be a music blog (not yet named). I’m concerned that the situation I went through might still be too fresh for me to explain well, but I thought it was important to try. Thanks.

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, in the right-hand column — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget! This could be a great spot to give readers a short overview of what your blog is about, to pique their interest.

    1. One thing — I noticed you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut them down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

      1. Thanks a lot! I picked it from one among the free ones in very beginning. I have reviewed your site and I found it really interesting. Following your blog now 🙂
Thanks again for likes and such love.
I’d be glad if you leave some feedback on my site too as it means a lot to me!

    1. Hey! welcome to the blogging world! I like your blog but I’d suggest that you should make an about page, it helps the reader to know and easily understand what your blog is about. Also, I’d advise that you should customize your site like the change text widget at the bottom or remove the edit link of your site settings and give your site a title. I’ve just followed you, looking forward to seeing more of your posts. Happy Blogging!! 🙂
