To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I left a comment on your blog. As for critique, you might want to think about making your first post your About page, which I noticed was blank. If you decide against that idea, I would get rid of the About page completely. Also, if you want readers to access your daughter’s and daughter’s roommate’s blogs, you should link their blog sites to your post for readers to easily access them. Just a few thoughts! 🙂

    1. Just a thought: some people may not know what ESL is. Maybe on your About page, you can explain it a little bit in detail, so your readers understand exactly what you are writing about. 🙂

  1. Hi there! So I officially started my blog three months ago and posted consistently for about a month, then I stopped because I didn’t know what to do with my blog. But writing and taking photos are the two things I enjoy doing the most, so I re-entered the blogging world two days ago, and I’m planning to stay. I’ve spent the last couple of days reorganising my blog and moving things around until I was happy with it – which I am now! I’d love to know what you think. 🙂

  2. I am so glad I found this thread! I was trying to find a jumping off point in terms of getting my blog out into the world and kept feeling overwhelmed and “stuck” and this seems like the perfect place. I posted my first blog a couple of weeks ago; but I’m just now posting the link to it here because I’m finally getting enough content up to justify reaching out to potential community members and page followers. I only recently decided to “follow my bliss” and start really building up my heart-centered business, so please keep in mind my page/site is very much a work in progress. That being said, I welcome feedback and critique based on what I’ve gotten up so far.

    Thank you so much! Namaste!

    1. I like the look of your blog. Just a tip: if you really want to gain more followers, along with sharing your blog on threads like this one and Community Pool (on Mondays), you should read and comment on other blogs as well. It’s a great way to reach out to fellow bloggers, especially with one’s that have similar interests. Happy blogging!

    2. Really like this post and how you’ve broken down the steps for people! It would be interesting to see if you made your name a little bigger or put it on your header image. I really like the name “A Road to Bliss” and think it should stand out more! 🙂

    1. I’m sure you’re aware that your ‘random thoughts’ – like anyone else’s – has to come from somewhere, and is the result of your need to express yourself. Blogging is a good exercise for that.

A good exercise to go along with this (it helps with your creativity, watch) would be to add some pictures to your posts. A good image isn’t just decoration, a good one will also add to the atmosphere. *Finding* a good one, well, that’s where your creativity muscles can flex. Might even spur you on to try some creative photography…

  3. Hey Everyone!
I just started my blog this week on Travel and Lifestyle called the Lonely Wanderer and would appreciate any feedback or suggestion! Additionally, I’ve started another blog dedicated to life inspiration, social commentary, fashion, and blurbs about my crazy life. You can find links to that blog on the bottom of the Lonely Wanderer.
Thanks! I hope you get high traffic and tons of success!

  4. Hello and welcome, new bloggers! We’re excited you’ve joined us here on WordPress.com.

Just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool instead.

The Community Pool is posted each Monday — click on the latest one:
    https://wordpress.com/dailypost/category/community-pool/

And if you’re not sure what the guidelines are here in First Friday, please read the above post carefully. Thank you!

    1. I loved reading your story! Just a thought: instead of having the reader scroll down the entire page of blog posts, you may want to consider adding a ‘read more’ line during editing. That way, the reader can scroll through different posts, read the first few lines, then click and open ones they want to continue reading. It also gives your blog a cleaner look. Can’t wait to read more! 🙂

  5. Hello bloggers! I just started a blog called The Shy Point of View. Through this blog I plan on sharing personal stories, random shy thoughts I have, and things that have helped me in working around my shyness. I hope to be able to provide some insight into how a shy person thinks because I feel that we’re often mistaken as being rude or uninterested (which is often not the case at all!). Also here to let any other shy people out there know that you’re not alone. Feel free to check out my first post: https://theshypointofview.wordpress.com/2016/11/15/1-an-introduction/

  6. Hi all! I started writing poetry again for the first time in many years. This time I want to stick with it and hopefully improve. Please take a look at my blog and feel free to leave feedback!

This is the link to the very first poem I published:

  7. I started blogging a few days ago. This is all new to me. Writing is the only thing I like to do. I share my thinking and write about the things I want to see around me. In all my genres I put my own thoughts using my own senses. I welcome your comments and your feedback!
    Thank You!
