First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Woah you’re really good. I feel like there are some grammatical errors and you might have to work on that, but the prose style and ideas are so so good 🙂
All the best and keep writing
Check out my blog too and don’t ever forget to like and leave feedback

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s published homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your home page: https://janetslilworld.wordpress.com/

(Also, I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s footer — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widgets!)

  1. Hello everyone,

I started my blog yesterday to share about my journey as I transition to a more spiritual (and relaxed!) lifestyle, with the hope to inspire as well as connect with people who are undergoing transformation in their lives, whether of a spiritual nature or not. Part of living is about embracing change and journeying towards one’s highest potential isn’t it?

Old habits do die hard, so I plan to also post about professional-related themes as well – leadership development, personal empowerment, team dynamics, emotional intelligence etc. with an aim to benefit readers in their career management and personal lives. It is my way of giving back a little for all the blessings that I enjoy 🙂

I’d love to hear your thoughts of my first post – and will be happy to reciprocate the kindness if you leave a link to your blog at the post itself so I may find you.

    1. Oooh your blog is interesting. I especially like your take on scientific websites. I’m a huge science nerd, but have got to agree with you on the aspect of science websites being messed up. Love it and keep writing!

Visit my blog and feel free to like, comment and follow too

    1. Hey I love your photos! Please do check out my blog too.
I have a request, if there’s anyway I could contact you (by email?) I would love to send you some ideas for pictures. I need pictures to go with stories on my blog and I find it very difficult to find them. You’re very talented and I was wondering if I could send you my stories and you could take an appropriate picture? I promise to give COMPLETE credit to you and your blog. It’s kinda a huge request, so please feel free to reject it. Thank you.

    1. Mackenzie! Hello there, you have an open start to your blog with your ice breakers and introduction. Nicely done. Your writing style is free flowing and conversational, I like it! This my preference for my blog, and maybe this won’t apply to you, but I would consider personal safety a concern. Again, maybe you don’t mind, but you put your First and Middle name, your state and your college name out there for all the universe to see. If I was your mom *and I’m not* I’d be concerned about how much you divulge in that respect. Up to you, but my opinion only, and you did ask for opinions, right? :). Cheers! Jessica

    2. I liked your about page – fun and informal. I also read the eyeshadow reviews and thought it good. It was very thorough, which I like. The page looks good, although I wonder if a style where you can see a few posts at first glance would work too? Would show people your diversity. Good job:-)
