Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    2. I think all of us hope we’ll get things figured out at some point and we do gain wisdom as we grow. We need to remember to enjoy life as it happens however, if we rush to the end we won’t have all those stories to pass on.

    1. I read your post and I loved it! We are all so caught up in thinking bad about people that we often forget to think from their perspective and what they might have faced… again, great post! 😊👍

  1. Hello Community Poolers, James of James Proclaims here. Haven’t been to the pool for a while so thought I’d pop in and say hello. My blog is mostly narcissistic ramblings and bad poetry but some people find it amusing. You might too. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. As long as it’s nice feedback…

    1. One thing that definitely stood out between everything else is the use of vibrant pictures. They really reel you in on the posts. Very refreshing the way you write and most definitely very amusing.

    1. Hey bud, just checked out your blog and left you a LONG comment lol so chat there eh? 😉

Btw, I noticed that your blog has no archives section and I strongly suggest that you add one so that it’ll be easier for readers to check out your older posts.

Hope this helped and talk to you soon!

    2. Really enjoyed that post. It reminds me of what Native Americans face in the USA, of the heavy burden of your culture contrasted with need from your culture for self identity, but a self identity that’s correct and not out of date. Very cool.

Thank you for giving your precious time to my work! It was great to hear from you, again. Also, I’m glad things are good as always. I had been in the illusion if I had lost some readership because of the time I took off.
Thank you, again, Benjamin! It was great to converse with you after so long. Smiles and best wishes for your new project! 🙂

Btw, I’ve checked out your blog and really got not much to add on since everything looks good. Layout is organized, personality is conveyed via your writing and that’s awesome.

It’s always nice to read an author who writes with such “Happy” style lol.

You’ve been blogging for 2 years bud?

      1. Thanks bud!

So I’ve checked out your blog and everything seems to be in order. Organized is always a good thing and your site definitely is lol.

Just curious, have you considered adding an Archives section? It’ll help your readers access your older posts easily.

I think it’s really epic how you’ve got some cool tips up for novelists to use so keep that up too 😉

Btw I’ve noticed that your book, “Haven River” is published but it’s not added into your “Books” menu on the site. Is that deliberate??

Anywho, here’s a few feedback. Layout is seriously clean for sure and that’s always a good thing. Images helped illustrate and engage readers.

Over all, I’d say that things look good so keep up the good work.

  3. Hi everyone,
I’ve just posted my August favourites and would really appreciate it if you checked it out. My blog is quite random so there should be something for everyone haha. I write about travel, writing (I’m an aspiring author), books, beauty etc.

Feedback on writing style, layout and my blog in general would be greatly appreciated.

    1. As a dude, I can say that your blog is organized very neatly. The post ‘August Favorites’ is laid out very nicely. Are those things you did or tried over the course of the month? Maybe post some hyperlinks to recipes or where people can purchase or try those things.

      -Good Luck

      1. Thank you! My monthly favourites are the things that I loved during that month, in this case August. That’s actually a good idea, I’ll have to see if I can start doing that in future monthly favourites posts 🙂

    1. Eavesdropping is something I’m guilty of. Possibly it comes from lack of trust or fear that someone is saying something negative about you. I think we are all guilty of it though.

    1. You are fantastic at drawing! It’s a really great way to just be in the present as you are focused on drawing, rather than being stuck in ‘doing’ mode and thinking about lots of other stuff. I quite enjoy mindful colouring but may try and do some drawing 🙂

  5. Hey guys,
I just started my vintage & crafts blog last Sunday and I already have a few posts. Comments and suggestions on the layout & content are appreciated, as well as advice on blogging frequency and sharing strategies! Visit me at: https://anyasvintage.com/ Thank you!

    1. It’s looking good so far. The About page makes your purpose clear. The site is attractive and easy to navigate. The posts are easy to read and the photos are good. The vases on your latest post are remarkable. I’ve never seen anything like them. Blogging frequency is a matter of personal preference and how you perceive the needs of your intended audience. I do once a week since I have some who subscribe by email and I don’t want to flood their in-baskets. Also, I can keep up with a regular weekly schedule. https://gracelead.co

  6. Hi, everyone! I am a blog that centers around reading, traveling and lifestyle in general, and I was looking to start incorperating some of my own photography into my blog (besides using them for post headers, which I have been doing). Should I start a page for photographs or maybe start posting more photographs in posts for themselves? Any advice from photography gurus?

      1. Aw thank you! And okay, I am looking forward to taking some more pictures to add onto my blog! Im thinking I will add a page for photography posts so that I can have a lot of my photos in one place 🙂 Thank you so much for the feedback!

    2. Lily I really like the theme you have chosen. It is an easy layout to follow. If you want to feature your own photos I say go for it. Your blog site is an expression of who you are, what you want to say, and is a place to showcases your talents. The only suggestion I would make is that you somehow make it very obvious to your followers that the photos are indeed your own so that everyone who visits your site can readily discern your photography talent, not just your writing talent. Good luck with this!!! It really is a great site 🙂

      1. Thank you so much Lindsey! I think that on my first photography related post I will explain that all and then maybe re-add it into future posts, just to get the message accross. Thank you for the advice and thank you so much for checking out my blog!
