New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.
For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.
To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.
To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard. Click on a post’s title to open the individual post. Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.
Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the community! To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.
Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other links to keep this space focused on new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays by visiting a link or two and leaving the bloggers a supportive like or comment.
We ask that you help us keep this space focused with a few other guidelines:
- If you share a link, visit a few other bloggers as well. New readers for all!
- Please don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
- Link directly to your new post — it makes it easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
- Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” or “Please look at my blog!” comments. They’re a bit spammy, and it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual blogs.
- To keep from losing your place, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

I agree, very powerful writing. I suggest you put up an “About” page soon. I know that when I go to a new blog, the About page is one of the first things I read so I can learn more about the blogger and the blog.

One thing — I noticed you’re using a lot of tags on your post. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

ohh i did’t know that i am very new to this lol btw thanks 🙂 so how many tags should i use like 5 or ? less
LikeLiked by 1 person
15 is the magic number, of tags and categories combined, so anything less than that is a-okay.

So you know: your link leads to the reader’s own stats page. Luckily (because this doesn’t happen for some users and I cannot figure out why) a WPer can click on your username and end up in your blog. What you can do (especially as a new blogger – I’ve had to get used to this myself) is to get familiar with your own address. It’s your blog, it’s your address, say it loud and proud! (in your case, it looks like https://fearlesscarla.wordpress.com)

Oh, never mind. Found your link near the bottom of this page. Silly me…
Anyway, there are a couple of things you can do. You’ve clearly spent some time in the Customizer, but there’s still a couple of places where it looks like there’s WordPress default text, namely the “Follow Blog via E-mail” and the “Contact” page. You can change those to something that fits more with your tone. Hey, this blog is your new home, why just make it pretty – why not make it *your* home, you know?

Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. I love seeing photos people take of their favorite places. I’ve never been to Perth, and it’s a city that people don’t often talk about so it’s nice to see it here.
So from what I read, your friend makes these smoothies? They look really good. Maybe ask him if you could share the recipes in future posts! I’m sure that many people would be very interested in them.

Hi All, Its great to see so many new bloggers here. I recently started by have not been as consistent as I would like like. I recently redesigned my page and I’m trying to post everyday now. Please check out my page and tell me what you think. https://ladygulivertravelsdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

The link doesn’t go to your blog, it leads to your Admin page. Everything after ‘wordpress.com’ on your link would lead the reader to your page, though.
It’s a good idea to nip the inconsistency early in your blogging stint – it’s like missing out on practice. I firmly believe that you get better over time with consistent, meaningful practice, logging on, writing, visiting blogs, learning about how to WP. It took me a month to figure out how to caption pictures correctly…
If daily is too much for now, and it can be because life happens, then hold off on it. Go on maybe twice a week, build your rhythm. Some people only get on once (like me) and randomly show up on Daily Prompts. That’s OK too, as long as you get into the swing of blogging.

I started blogging a little under a month ago now and this is the first time I’ve reached out to people for feedback.
My blog is essentially a big combination of all things that interest, with a mixture of creative work and more article-style pieces. I’m still in the process of sorting the blog out so there are parts that are unfinished, but I’d really appreciate hearing what people think about the content, writing, etc.
Below is a link to my brief introduction to the blog, although there are several other posts up there already.
I’ll be sure to give other people’s blogs a look 🙂

As to the content: I think it’s really clear what people can expect when they go to your blog. I love your photos, especially the one of the jaguar with the rain drops. That one is stunning.
It’s a great start 🙂

Your blog is really pretty, but there are a lot of unused text widgets on the home page and nothing on the about page that you can hide or delete.
Don’t be afraid to use tags! That’ll let like-minded bloggers find your posts in the reader. You can use up to 15, and adding a few will bring more readers to your blog.
The post itself is really good. It’s very descriptive, and, this may sound weird, but you have a good grasp on paragraphs.
Also, congratulations on your new addition! I couldn’t imagine being a nurse and pregnant and raising two children. That would have to make for some very interesting slice of life posts.

Thanks for the feedback! I updated my ‘about’ page, and i am working on figuring out the tags. I tried to add some to my post but maybe i didnt do it correctly. Im also working on putting something in those text widget areas but i will hide them in the meantime. Thanks for checking me out! I am totally new to blogging so i will take all the info i can. And yes…it is definitely interesting trying to make being mom and nurse work lol.

Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.
I want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.
If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!
Happy blogging, y’all:)

You are not wrong at all. You are learning, in life and in blogging.
I think your posts are very good and I like the look of your blog. My only suggestion is that you write your “About” page so we can easily learn more about you. I notice the link to your about page is in the top right corner of your blog. I think it is helpful to look at the about pages on numerous blogs before you decide what you want to write on yours.
Welcome to the WordPress blogging community!

Your pictures make the food look so delicious! I’m not paleo; but I may try a few of these.
And the way you have the recipes formatted (brief summary/background, bullets for the ingredients list, and numbered step-by-step instructions) makes them very clear and concise, which I appreciate in a recipe.
I would recommend possibly making use of read more breaks–maybe after the summary–and keep the homepage focused more on the pictures and the background for the recipe, but otherwise this is a great start!
I noticed at least on your earlier recipes that you you made the tags one word hashtags (such as #butternutsquash and #coconutmilk), which isn’t necessary in the WordPress tags as long as you separate them with a comma.
Also maybe also add a tag or a category for the diets your recipes fit into (such as paleo, vegan, vegetarian or pescetarian) to bring more readers? (Just be careful not to go over 15 tags and categories total.)
Again, fantastic start! I’m excited for more.
