If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. (If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!)

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Sorry, thought that this was meant to be “quick post”.
I am Fabio from Montevideo, a Spanish-language writer who usually works as a translator. I am glad to be part of WordPress. Thank you, Michelle W., for inviting me to post here.

    2. Hola Fabio,

I hope my Spanish was ok 🙂
I don’t use translators anymore and I don’t have a keyboard with accents on it so the grammar is probably a bit rough.

    1. Loved your post! It’s so relatable for me, although you came to a good attitude about your situation much quicker than me. Your writing is quick and witty. I read your review of Ferris too. It’s a short, to the point review, which is just how I like them. You’ve got great detail and voice. I look forward to checking out more of your work.

    1. Hey there,

Your blog has a beautiful and professional layout. The photos with the posts, especially the cover photos, are very well done and give it a professional appearance.

I really liked your article about free things to do in Macau. Us freegans are usually stuck reading about the best beachside resorts or five star restaurants in a place, so thanks for writing something for the rest of us.

  2. Hey guys! I’m Emily, and my blog is a weird mix mash of stuff (there’s a post about that haha). I started on the first day of June, and I’m still getting a hang of all this. The vibe of the blog is very millennial college student, who’s an aspiring writer.

My first post is aptly titled “A Start,” but feel free to give me feedback on the rest of my posts!: https://emdashzhu.wordpress.com/2016/06/01/a-start/

    1. You are obviously a writer if you put your thoughts into words! 🙂 Don’t discourage yourself, good luck with the rest of your posts! I will take a look at what you’ve written as your first blog.

    1. It’s really cool to see a blog on this subject. If I may make a suggestion – write what you wrote in this comment on your ‘about’ page. The one you have currently is very generic and doesn’t really tell readers who you are, other than that you’re a college student. Readers will want to know that you’re an aspiring attorney who writes about this kind of stuff!

    1. Great work! I think you’ve really got something going in this blog. Your purpose is clear, your posts are all in a niche, and it’s informative. I like the shortness of your articles too; keeps things from being too dense or overwhelming. These business/audience/marketing subjects are super important for tons of bloggers to know and be aware of. Good luck!

  4. Hi everyone, my name is Nick and I recently started a blog this month called “Choose The Wrench.” It’s an ode to those who openly embrace challenges and the paths less traveled, those that choose the wrench. Would love any and all feedback especially with ways to help drive additional traffic. This is my first blog and its been intoxicating putting pen to paper – extremely therapeutic, frustrating, fun, and enjoyable. Looking forward to reading all your posts and taking pointers

  5. I have been here all of two weeks but how I love it! I was wondering if some of you would give some feedback on the layout of the blog. I feel its a bit heavy and would like suggestions on how to get some sort of menu option showing links to other blog entries on each page. Here is the link to my blog that offers poetic translations to Bollywood songs, along with other relevant information. I would absolutely love to hear feedback on the writing and concept too. See you all there!

      1. It’s not that you need to improve. There’s nothing wrong with your writing. It’s beautiful and it’s completely you, I can tell. You just need to find the right readers. Don’t fit yourself to what you can get. Make yourself bold enough for others to seek you out.

      2. That’s inspiring, but the majority of readers are not the right ones to understand. I’m trying to be water that adjusts itself to any situation. I’ve written something else though, give me a thought on that.

In my mind, I also think that I know you.

If you’ve been blogging for more than a few weeks and want to participate here, I encourage you to (1) read the guidelines in the post, to learn more about how we moderate these comments and (2) spend some time visiting and supporting brand new folks — the first like or comment someone gets is powerful, and you can be that person for someone new!
