The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hi everyone!
Posted a a jazzy little recipe earlier today – would love for you to pop by and check out the rest of my blog too!
And here’s a tip, especially for new bloggers – be careful how many links you leave on sites. I got tagged as spam last week and it may have been because I shared a post link on a couple of different meet and greets.
LikeLiked by 5 people
Well, that is worrisome. No real consequences for the supposed ‘spam’, I hope?

Only missed opportunities and a lot of back and forth with administration. Frustrating to say the least!

Hopefully it will make others aware – if you don’t comment on blogs much or don’t login regularly, you run the risk of not realising for a few days, so worth knowing 🙂

How can you tell if you get tagged as spam?

I noticed that my comments were not appearing. At first I thought they were just waiting to be moderated but when they didn’t show on blogs I regularly visit and comment on, or in the Pool which doesn’t authorise on an individual comment basis, I queried it with admin support. They didn’t see a problem at first but eventually realised I was wrongly labelled spam.

I really enjoyed your writing, it engaged with the reader and had a slightly wacky, informal, and irreverent feel with a definite charm too, a great combination that I really enjoyed reading. With regards to design, I think that the simple layout of the theme with the widgets at the bottom works well to put the focus on the writing (though a more colourful theme might echo more with the tone of the writing).
Hope this was helpful, but obviously they’re only my ideas and opinions so feel free to ignore them if you see fit.

As for getting potential fans to say, its hard. Im not sure how to do it to be honest, keep writing engaging content. respond to comments to let readers know that you are listening to them. I found that sometimes a lot of the same people would coment on most things I wrote, I went on to read their blogs and became friends with them.

Your blog is easy to navigate and inviting. I like that you feature a short summary of each article on the front page, making it easy to scroll through the articles. It makes it look clean. I also like that you post your beliefs right there, out front for all to see.

I liked the blog quite a bit. Easy to navigate and the writing is good. As a Christian blogger myself, I am always looking for good Godly blogs.
Keep up the good work 🙂

A recent short story that I posted. https://flyingonemptythoughts.wordpress.com/2015/11/01/bad-days-parade/
I mean to write more and more importantly write better. Help me with the feedback please? Let me know where I need to improve, and rate out of 10 how this story is. Thanks guys and WP for arranging this.
Also look forward to read some awesome posts and meet some new bloggers here.

An interesting piece, but there were some phrases that didn’t seem to flow very well. For instance, ‘soon-to-be eventful past year’… I’m not entirely sure what to make of that. Was ‘ingestion’ supposed to be ‘indigestion’? I think good writing could be made even better by reading through your post a second time before hitting the Publish button.
Regarding your actual blog, I love your logo but hate the background and theme. The organization of your widgets seems to be all over the place as well, you may want to take a look at it. Usually I prefer to see Follow options first in the widgets area. I found that the Random Post button was nonfunctional, too. Did I do something wrong? Best of luck!

will go through post again. I like the background though, I liked it best compared to the previous ones I’ve used. Any reasons you hate it.
Theme I kind of agree, it’s doesnt show much on the homepage except titles. Widgets I dunno what to do there anymore 😦 Will check that random post thing. thanks for the feedback Leisel.

I really enjoyed your story. I saw below that you liked your background, but I have to agree with the commenter it’s hard to read on the background, is there maybe a way of having a plain background under your text but keeping the background for the rest of the blog?
Good luck 🙂

I could really use some inspiration or guidance, even some topics you would like to hear about from my point of view! Any and all help is appreciated, and I’d be happy to give your site a look-see 🙂 link is below!

You made me have to look up two words with your most recent post. Good job, that practically never happens. A couple things that may help: Run your About page through a spell checker real quick. There are some words bunched together and capital letter issues. I would also recommend adding pictures to your posts, especially the longer ones. Have you considered adding widgets to your blog?

Great layout and lovely colours. Id suggest using categories though, and maybe having them at the side for people to access different types of posts. Also, id look at the widgets that you can add to your blog, you may find some that are really cool. Maybe add a follow button, I found it hard to find the follow button 🙂
Good luck 🙂

Hello People, I am new to writing and started this blog because I thought I could have some place to jot down things I’d otherwise keep in mind forever. Though, I’ve successfully started doing the same, I could use some honest feedbacks on how clearly (or not) the write-ups are understandable and coherent. So a new visitor’s perspective could give me some much-needed ideas on overall improvement if any.

Hey!
I would love some feedback on the content of my blog. I write short poems.
Here is the link: https://thoughtscrawler.wordpress.com/
Also I would like to hear your opinions on whether I should add a ‘read more tag’ to posts on my homepage. This question is even more important as most of my poems have a twist in the end.
Thanks!
LikeLiked by 2 people
Hey you, so went through your blog and the poems are really interesting. The content is not really the problem.
Try adding a gravatar image. and update your profile there, because now the image is blank and the blog looks incomplete wihtout it-another reason is adding gravatr image instantly helps readers separate your blog from others. Like you can see even in this comment, your blog icon is blank.
Other thing themewise, Try to keep your widgets to the top(my preference, as I personally find it time consuming to scroll to the bottom of the page, also something that I do so..), and add some menu. The idea is the first half of your page should give an idea of what your blog is about. I am on mobile WP, but in case you dont have a menu, do add it, it completes the blog also helps the readers easily navigate your blog. Hope this helped!

Thank you for the feedback! On the laptop the menu is on the side but on the phone the menu is at the end.
Do you know how I can change that?

Id add the read more tags, I think they add a provisionality to a blog as well as keeping it tidy. But for you I think they could be important in hiding the twists in your poems, like you said.
I like your theme, it suits your style!
Good luck 🙂

Just to address a question raised above: the reason some elements of your site switch positions on mobile devices is because of the responsiveness of your theme, meaning that your layout automatically changes depending on your reader’s screen size. You sacrifice a bit of control with that, but gain enormously by having a site that people can read comfortable no matter what device they’re on.

Hey everyone,
Last time I got some constructive feedback on my blog, mainly on fonts and widgets. This weekend I arranged it and tried to resolve the defects that were pointed out. Therefore, I would like you people to have a glimpse at my blog and, if possible, provide me with some productive advice. Any interaction with the blog is highly appreciated and will be payed back.

Hey Joe, your blog is really cool, love the blog header btw. My only feedback is the theme, since your blog is image heavy, maybe use a photography theme as it will showcase your blog best. From what I see, you’ve use a theme that’s mostly for texty blogs.

Hello everyone. I’ve been blogging for nearly a year and haven’t quite found my ‘direction’. I blog about reading, writing and travels, so general musings really. Recently I’ve been writing alot about my city. Do you think I should follow this route or keep it general? Thanks for your thoughts https://profusionofeccentricities.wordpress.com/
