Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. lovely read…can you add a few questions to that post so we know what sort of responses you’re interested in…reading it I wanted to give love advice but without having that as a clear question to reader’s I’d assume that would be too forward…so perhaps helpful to learn from you what you’d like to explore with readers…similar woes? how long it took you to find Mr. Right vs. Mr. Right Now?

      1. I wanted to do that for a few posts but I don’t know how to end the post with a question. So I always end up just letting it be. Please do comment anything you feel like talking about. Nothing’s too forward 😀 I’d be happy to hear your thoughts 🙂 Thank you for reading

    2. I have checked your blog out just now. I am curious how you get picture for your blog because they seem to be a big part of it. I myself is looking for more photos and pictures to enhance my blog,

I particularly liked the “Dear You” post. However, I wonder why you use a black and white photo for your ID. It may be a small thing, the photo is unlike any colourful pictures you have on your blog. I will be following your blog from now on.

      1. Hello 🙂 I get a lot of my pictures from unsplash.com. It was suggested by a fellow blogger to me on Community Pool a few months ago. They have HD images that are free to use. My picture itself was meant to be black & white. I don’t have a big reason behind it. It just is very me. Thank you for the follow and the kind words 🙂

    4. FABULOUS and BRAVA! I couldn’t agree more! Looks are SO skin deep. How do you get all of the share links at the bottom? I’m having a hard time with that.

    1. Your post read heartfelt and genuine to me. Everyone has something in their life they wish to which they wish they could devote more time: exercising, writing, reading, crafts, etc. While your post focused on your need to write, it’s relatable to a much wider audience.

    1. I thoroughly enjoyed the clapper blog. How did you get the links at the bottom to spread the blog? I’m very new and need all the help I can get. Feel free to check out my blog and advise. Thanks!

I’m not an expert, rather new to the field – yet I’d say I loved your blog!

I won’t comment on this post…because it rendered me speechless. I feel I have no rights to comment over that. The raw emotions touched me !
I’m glad to stumble upon such a strong person 🙂

tell me one thing that, do you find posts(links) readable/understandable on the main page ?

    1. I love how colorful your blog is – great use of pictures and background color! My only suggestion is that the name of your blog (Scribbleartie) is a little hard to read – maybe change the color a little to make it easier on the eyes? (Of course, this could just be my monitor).

Would you be willing to look at one of my posts?

  1. Good morning everyone, I had a neat opportunity to visit the Performing Animal Welfare Society’s location in San Andreas, California for an open house recently. I wrote a little post about it on my travel blog if anyone is interested in checking it out. It is a great organization that takes care of abused/sick/retired animals used in the circus or performing animal genre.

    1. I actively avoid e-book’s like the plague, it is one of the few things that I still like to have a physical and tangible copy of. Films, music etc etc I am happy to have digital only but I have a heaving bookcase purely because I just prefer to own a physical book/magazine.
Then again as I shoot a lot of film photography I guess maybe it’s because I’m just stuck in the past :p

      1. Or maybe both can still exist simultaneously! I am stuck in the past in many ways as well, but I am too stubborn and habituated to change. As long as it doesn’t harm anyone, why change?

  2. Hey everyone. Started my blog nearly a year ago and really enjoying writing it. I talk about my own personal thoughts about cars and it’s really a niche within a niche! I appreciate that the content might not suit everyone but I’d love to get some feedback on my writing style, blog layout and length etc. Would really appreciate honest but constructive criticism. Blog is called addictedtocars.com and I’d be more than happy to return the favor. Thanks.

    1. Great content! I can tell you know a lot about cars (way more than me 🙂 ). The one issue with the layout is the background image — it makes the words hard to read sometimes because they blend in with the image. Other than that, I don’t see any issues.

      1. Hi Natalie, thanks so much for checking out my blog. A couple of other people mentioned the background to me before so I guess I must be wrong ! I looked at your 4 most recent posts and was interested enough to promise you that when I finish work tonight I will check things out in a little more depth and give you some more in depth thoughts. I wish I wrote as fluently and well as you. I love that even after only a brief look it is easy to tell that you have thought about your topics and have honed the final draft. My initial thoughts on the downside were that there were maybe too few pictures/cartoons/graphics-maybe they could add just that little bit of humour even if the topic is a little more serious. Btw thanks for the NSFW warning!

      2. That’s very nice of you to say 🙂 Thank you! I write a lot, which helps, but I also try to wait a day or two between writing my first draft and posting it — the extra time lets me look at the post again with fresh eyes for editing! Write a lot and read a lot — that’s the advice they give in writing classes. Have you read any books about cars? 🙂

      3. I never stop reading about cars! Or thinking about cars. Or talking about cars. I know I need to get out more! I am like you I re-read each paragraph repeatedly. I would love to write more but have to shoehorn the writing in between working and family life! Off to read your blog.

    2. Well, Mick ol’ boy, you came to the right woman, a woman such as myself who has blogged for her very own blog, Dream In Music, for 3-1/2 years; Now, in order to have a very good post for your blog, you got to have a real, good idea; Once that idea is stuck inside your head, get it out by writing a draft for your post on either a separate piece of paper or by using Microsoft Word. And then next, search for a photo that would make a very good match for the post that you are about to write, and then after you have found the perfect image, download it, and then re-touch it with any kind of photo editing app(I use Pixlir, but I also sometimes use PhotoFunia or PicSay apps); And finally, after you have written your draft for your post, begin to start writing for the post for your blog itself-Put the image either before or after the first paragraph, and then follow along with your separate draft as you write your post! And also, if ever you should run out of any ideas for great blog posts, then take a nice, little break every once in a while, because that will help recharge your creative batteries! I very much hope that my advice would help you in getting started in your blogging adventure, and may I say that I wish you the very best of luck with your very own blog, and when you have the chance, please visit mine, which is again Dream In Music, at http://www.j2w7.wordpress.com! Best of luck to you, with love-JW

      1. Hi JW,
Thanks a million for stopping by. I really appreciate your comments and tips. Unfortunately my problem is that I have way too many topics and not enough time! I checked out your blog and I love the layout and your passion bursts from the page with a real effervescence. Unfortunately I am a tone deaf atheist so I’m probably not your target audience. Thanks again.

    1. I commented on your most recent post. I like the simplicity of your site, and how you show the artwork and explain how you created the piece. 🙂 In your earlier posts, you didn’t explain as much, and I think you should include both images and words for maximum effect.

    1. I think your content is great, but your theme does not fully support mobile. As I’m reading this on a mobile myself, I’d say you should switch to a theme that supports mobile properly, because no mobile support can be a big turn off for a new reader.

    1. Hello fellow big sister! You have strong conviction and I’m glad you want to share it. I also like that you recognize that people, religious/non-religious, believers/non-believers, generally don’t want to be preached at. As a follower of Christ, I too want to read honest, raw blogs about people as they struggle in their faith and ‘suffer with Jesus on the cross’; not about Bible verse after verse telling me how to live my life, when the authors themselves never truly open up about their own.
P.S. I also play the violin.

    1. The layout of your blog is great – good color scheme, easy to read, great use of photos. Awesome! I like the natural theme that you follow. When possible, it might be a good idea to include an image with your work, maybe one that inspired you to write it 🙂 Posts with images often do better than those without!
