Liked Zero to Hero? Updates and New Challenges

Here at The Daily Post’s top-secret volcano island headquarters, we’ve been talking a lot about Zero to Hero — how to make it better, what comes next, and whether to issue retro-futuristic silver jumpsuits to all participants.

Thanks to your feedback and questions, we’ve got a lot of ideas! We thought you’d want to know what happens now:

  • Too many ruffles? Yeah, You're probably right.

Too many ruffles? Yeah, You’re probably right.

The current Zero to Hero page will be coming down at the end of February. If you’re still working your way through it, you’ve got this week to finish, or feel free to copy and paste the assignments into a file of your own so you can wrap up at your own pace. We’ll be taking those assignments — and your suggestions — and revisiting the entire challenge to make it more focused and more helpful.

  • A new “Blogging 201” challenge is coming in AprilLots of you were interested in a continued challenge, and many more experienced bloggers wanted something to push them further. Your wish is our command!
  • The new and improved Zero to Hero will run again later in the spring, If you want to give it another try or learned about the original challenge too late to take part with the group, we’ll run another full version of Zero to Hero.

In the meantime, we’ll also be cooking up other challenges, courses, and resources to support your blogging goals.

  2. The first few challenges of Zero to Hero were pretty fun, but from 7 onwards it was too geared towards those who are just starting out with a blog. Sounds like this new challenge will be good though. I’m looking forward to it!

  5. Hmmm… as someone who just started Zero to Hero, I’m a bit sad that it is being taken down. Is there a reason why it isn’t being left up until the new version is ready to go? Starting a new blog can be quite difficult, especially for those who haven’t blogged before, so it’s sad to see it go for now. I know it will be back, but for those who decide to start in March there aren’t really any beginner options for them.

Personally I’m going to keep trying Zero to Hero until April when 201 is up. If my timing is right I should have only a week or two break in between where I’ll have to try out my own imagination. 😉

    1. We want y’all to have the best possible content and we want to be able to fully support participants, so rather than having people find the challenge and go it on their own, we’re opting to take it down briefly, and then start a fresh new round with updated tasks and staff support.

      1. Thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean and fully respect that decision. One of the things that I was a little disappointed about when I started was that all of the conversations were closed and I wasn’t able to ask for feedback.

Even without that community support it’s still a great challenge and you guys did an excellent job building it! I’m only on Day Three but I look forward to my daily blog post and to my surprise gained a few new followers. 🙂

        Thanks!

  9. Ello, daily post. New to blogging. May I have a piece of advice please? I’d like visitors/followers, but also wondering if my content is even attractive? I’d love some input and also how do I search out fabulous bloggers to follow? Thank u for the time, much appreciated!!

  11. It was great the day that you did ‘try a blogging event’ as your zero to hero challenge as I got the most response that I’d ever gotten on my weekly event that week! So thanks for that! I’m always interested in new ideas so am looking forward to the Blogging 201. Sounds cool.
