The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hi there, just checked out your post and I don’t mean to be a grammar nazi but the third sentence in didn’t make sense to me as well as the second to last sentence. I’m guessing there was a grammatical error?? Over all its a great post and I couldn’t agree more with making your blog more personal to match your style rather than conforming to the masses.

I think it was brave of you to write so openly about this topic. I did see the comment about it being long-winded. I’ll admit I skipped a few sentences, not because of the writing but simply because I was short on time and wanted to get through it quickly. I can totally relate because I get carried away with words too and it is always a struggle for me to be succinct. I wish you luck in striking a comfortable balance.

Hello! I’m typing up all my teenage diaries from the 1990s and the time has come to introduce the Snogging Code to my blog so I’ve added it as another page. It’s pushed the headings onto 2 rows which I guess is ok but I was trying to keep them to a minimum. How many headings do you have? Do you prefer other blogs to have fewer headings or is it easier to find what you want when it’s all on display?
Also, someone else’s comment here last week got me thinking… Is better to have a home page as a grid rather than a stream of posts? I imagine it’s easier to pick out a post to read that way.
Thanks,
Tess x

Hi! I like the two lines, I like the choices I’ve got to navigate around with the different headings and I think the formatting looks great still. I only have two right now – but I’m only three posts in and eventually planning on doing something with more headings but not sure what yet!!

Ta for that 🙂 I started off with only 2 or 3 and the list has grown as I’ve gone along. It’ll become clear what else to add as you post more.

An option to the grid idea is to change your settings so that only a few lines of each post show and readers have to click on continue to read the full post. The advantage is that it is easier to scroll through your stream of posts to find ones of most interest. Your 2 rows of headings don’t bother me. Mine site has 2 rows as well. http://gracelead.co

No it isn’t ridiculous at all!
I use the Pique theme(it’s free) which has panels, the different pages you say. I had to create two pages for each topic, lets say books.
I made two pages one named books and another being books I reviewed. I assigned the first panel to books. (The page’s featured image is the one in the background and the content of that page is yet again the same picture center aligned. This picture is linked to the page Books I reviewed)
So, when you click on the picture, you go directly to the page of the books I reviewed.
I did the same thing for each panel!
It feels good when someone asks this stuff!
Thank you yet again!

Nice stuff. My sis in law is a personal trainer. I’m more of a spiritual person but we have the deepest talks on how stress affects the physical and mental aspects. Liked it!!

Thank you so much for reading! Yes. Stress is terrible for your health. Any practice you do to reduce the amount experienced is great! Cheers. ✌

Your title is very good, there are a few corrections that I may add, you may want to get it proof read by some expert.
1) ‘Literally’ should not be used literally everywhere
2) Paragraphs instead of one paragraph
3) Hyperlink to your sources, maybe?
Wish you would do the same for me.. visit

Hi everyone, in celebration of National Poetry Month, I wrote a guest essay on the benefits of writing poetry for my friend SourgirlOhio’s blog ‘Another Bad Conversation’. It would be lovely if you could read it and share your thoughts!

Nice thoughts. I especially like that you’re learning about how language works through rhythm and “the marriage of a few words thrown together.” You say poetry is a suggestion, but I would say it is truth in a moment that few rarely stop to pause in and discover.

That is a great way to think about it!

“It is liberating, exciting, irresponsible writing. But, I keep wishing I was better at it.” The essay is beautifully worded and you summed it up pretty well. Why don’t you check out our blog, see if maybe, you can submit in something for us to publish?

Your story line is excellent. I especially liked the surprise at discovering the girl was blind. If possible, have someone edit your story. There are a few places where you could improve readability. http://gracelead.co

Hi, I loved the theme and the black background!
Honestly, I felt it’d be better with lighter shades !
Black definitely is classy, but is dark and doesn’t fit quite well with the kind of stuff you post!

I’ve never been to Scotland but it looks really nice. It is odd to think, Edinburgh is a city but does still look rustic and have an old-fashioned feel intertwined with the more modern buildings and sight. I enjoyed your post, maybe I should visit Scotland one day haha!

Loved the picture of the sunset whilst you waited for the ferry! I liked the mix of pictures and writing, it made it easy to read. I love how Disney pay so much attention to detail making every aspect of their parks look amazing! I’ve followed you, looking forward to seeing more of your content 🙂

Hey Ben, thank you so much for the positive feedback! Most of the pictures I took were just to show what WDW looked like, but that’s one I just took because it looked beautiful. Thanks again!
