Clearly I can’t count – what can’t you do?

Topic #347:

As the number above points out, my skills at counting leave much to be desired. As there are 365 days in a year, I’m 8 topics short for offering you a topic a day for the entire year How lame – I’m hanging my head in shame right now (Before you tell me it should be 9, remember there’s one more for tomorrow).

But this does offer us a good topic for the day: what ordinary skill are you bad at? Maybe its tying your shoelaces, or parallel parking cars, but we all have something very simple that we just don’t do very well. Write about yours.

  1. not trying to be picky—but if this is topic 347 we are 18 official topics short of 365….347 + 8 = 355; 347 + 18 = 365. but i would guess most of us did additional daily topics beyond your provided prompts.

  2. The skill of staying focused in boring conversations!
It gets embarrassing when I simple zone out! It is beyond me!
One moment I am there listening to all the jibes and drabs, and the very next moment I am gone!
It could be a word from that conversation or a fleeting glimpse of something as I look around or plain absentmindedness! I just get lost somewhere to a point of no graceful return!

  3. Hey Scott,
You’ve got me lol-ing b/c I just messed up on my most recent blog post (#189) thinking I was only one away from the 200 mark. I, too, am very sad with numbers; obviously, words are my thing. (At 3 y/o, my younger son used to tell me 1+1 is 11–I still agree ;)!)

Oh, I can move to music but can’t learn dance steps and this white girl can’t jump too high either.

HNY to you and yours! Thanks for all the great post questions!

  4. Scott, I feel sooooo deprived – deprived of 17 more of your pearls of wisdom 😉 But hey if we subtract your vacation, sick days and made-up holidays like Columbus day, then your number is probably just about right.

And I lack the very ordinary skills whistling, being able to walk and chew gum at the same time, so who am I to criticize. (Although maybe you should add subtraction to your list…)

  5. Being civil. I get the impression that there are alot of certified a?? holes around. War on this. War on that. Praise the lord and pass the ammunition. Straight to hell with basic human rights and due process. Guilty, guilty, and guilty by accusation. This is the new world order and I have a problem being civil when participating.

  6. Now i noticed, it’s only 347 (or is it 348?) out of 365, so this is also one thing that I may be bad at, haha…

Happy New Year Scott and to all the people on the blogosphere most especially to everyone at WordPress and my followers/prospective followers.

All the best in 2012 and stay blessed! 🙂

  7. The fact of I cannot just simply connect device with camera to computer. Or send pictures to computer! I do plan to take on next year’s challenge with photos. I can’t be that bad.

Or the other, I cannot be having such zero grasp of music. So here’s my goal next year. Learn music, so that I can make music.

Happy New Year Scott. Thanks for your very hard work trying to think up ideas for us. You did the best !
And to all at WP too.

Blogging here has been a significant part of my life the past year since I joined up Postaday2011. You have been an important staple in my life.

  8. As embarrassing as this is, I sometimes have trouble with my left and right’s. Someone will tell me left and I will change lanes to the right…and then I get made fun of. You’d think I’d have this down by kindergarten…

  10. First, thanks for all you have done for us with WordPress. As a Postaday2011 addict, I’m assuming we can simply continue onto Postaday2012.
You want just ONE thing I’m bad at? Really, just ONE? I cannot cut a straight line, not with a ruler, straight edge and X-Acto knife. And, sigh, I’m a book artist. So that’s a big one. 2. Confuse left and right while reading a map and driving. 3. Can’t sing. Not a note. OK, I’ll stop before I move on to Vol. II

    1. Whoops. Jumped the gun! (im the idiot…you ARE bad at math). My obvious handicap is being too gullable. And speaking, er typing, before thinking. This blog is a true lesson: before jumping to conclusions, consider the content AND context before making assumptions. HA!

  12. I found out the hard way when working at a bookstore in the 90’s, before they got registers that scanned the ISBN. We had to hand type the 10 digit book id and i quickly found out that i CAN NOT type and talk at the same time. Kinda a humiliating thing to be suggesting a book to someone at checkout to stop in mid word to be totally silent typing in the sku. i constantly had to apologize for it. lollol.
