What is your biggest frustration about driving?

What is your biggest frustration about driving?

Is it people who don’t know how to merge? Or the ones who leave their turn signals on for decades? Maybe it’s simply the horrors of a daily commute in traffic? Identify your biggest annoyance and explain why it frustrates you so much.

  4. Distracted drivers, whether they’re eating, applying make-up, yelling at kids in the back seat, talking on their phones or texting.. distracted drivers cause accidents.

      You know what, reading all these posts, agreeing with 100% of them, I wonder how I can even drive without popping a blood vessel. I need to hire a chauffeur so I can wear a blind-fold while he or she drives me.

  5. Impeding the flow of traffic:

    If you’re getting on the freeway, get up to speed before you merge. That way you won’t impede the flow of traffic.

    If you’re already on the freeway, don’t slow down to let others on. If you do, you may be thinking you’re being kind to the one who’s merging on too slowly, but you’re impeding the flow of the many behind you!

    1. Yes!!! I thought I was the only person who finds that being extra polite to one driver equals being extremely rude to other drivers behind you who are waiting for you to GO.

  6. I don’t like being cut-off abrubtly and unexpectedly, where I have to slam on my brakes and I don’t like when people slow way down to look at an accident on the side of the road.

  8. All lanes of traffic going pretty much the same speed really get me. All the other stuff is tolerable (and I’m often amongst the ones being distracted by things like food and coffee and whatnot) when I’m able to feel like I’m not stuck in traffic. The moment I’m unable to feel like I’m moving forward and am trapped is the moment I get all grr argh and grumble and glare at the perpetrators at the front. Yes, I’m talking about you, the ’80s Volvo in the right lane, the semi in the middle lane, and the diesel truck hauling your weekend camping and ATV fun in the left lanes all going within 1 mile an hour of each other whether we’re going up or down hill. Grr and argh.

  9. Mine isn’t so much on the actual road as it is in the parking lot. Driving willy-nilly through the parking lot with no regard to directional arrows, stop and yield signage within the parking lot, etc. Just because it’s not on the street doesn’t mean the rules don’t apply.

  10. People who look right at me (or don’t look at all, but the looking right at me is far, far worse) and then creep out of the parking lot or driveway they were sitting in and cut me off. I hate that! I hate that so much! I drive a loud, red sports car! I usually drive with my fog lights on for extra visibility! And the idiots still do that! They do that on purpose, I know it!

    Well, maybe not. Maybe they just . . . go temporarily blind. I don’t know.

    I agee with PCGuyIV. Parking lot drivers drive (ha!) me nuts too. I always use my blinkers in the lot, and I drive slowly. I hate it when other drivers zip through the lot like there’s no way a kid is going to dart out from between those vehicles. Oh,and people who go five under in the left lane of the interstate.

MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATION ABOUT DRIVING IS THE LACK OF CO-OPERATION AND HUMANE CONSIDERATION FROM OTHER ROAD USERS.NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL AND SPEED-LESS YOU MAY DECIDE TO GO,SOME OTHER ROAD USERS STILL BEHAVE AS IF THEY HAVE THEY HAVE GONE BUNKERS,AND IN THEIR HOUR RECKLESSNES AND SEEMING MADNESS,CAUSE ACCIDENTS,AVOIDABLE ACCIDENTS THAT MAY RESULT INTO LOSS OF LIVES.DEFINITELY,SOME DRIVERS NEED TO GET THEIR HEADS EXAMINED!

    1. I strongly agree. I also drive and it makes me feel so much frustrated when suddenly a motorcycle pass through behind me, with no signal at all and with a very fast speed. sometimes causes me to suddenly stop and take a deep breath. If in any case that i do have a heart problem, might get a heart attack from that very moment.

  15. I am an Indian and enjoy driving in India a lot, it feels like a video game and its thrilling, ofcourse I do be safe. The most frustrating part of driving came about for me on the Highways in the US where everyone just drove at almost the same speed and i felt very sleepy. It was frustrating.

  16. My biggest frustration about driving is when I am on the interstate and the traffic is going slow because of a traffic jam and some impatient person change from lane to lane trying to get ahead of the traffic when there is really no place to go.

My biggest beef about drivers is those ones who think that their time is more important, and will drive up a lane, knowing it’s going to come to an end, and they will have to merge in, and they will drive right buy you while your sitting in line, litterely thumbing their nose at you. And if you don’t let them in, they give you the finger, or make rude faces.

      1. I’m not being overly judgmental and don’t mean to be rude BUT – IF you have the option to “move over” why don’t you so the “tailgater” can go by? I HATE people who stay in the third lane – just because they Want to, as if they’re the only ones on the road – or feel they’re doing the speed limit and they’re just NOT moving!! Hope that’s not you!

It’s so funny because most drivers can pretty much be sorted into two categories: (1) those who hog the left lane and say they shouldn’t have to move because they are doing the speed limit; and (2) those who think those who hog the left lane should move over with the rest of the slower drivers and stop playing speed cop.

        I most emphatically belong in the number two category. And, if U.S. highways abided by the same rules as German highways, those in the number one category WOULDN’T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON with their argument. They would either have to move over, or nearly die in their zeal to occupy the left lane come heck or high water.

      2. If someone is tailgating me and I can move over, I just move over. If I’m impeding the flow of traffic because I want to drive slower, I just move over to the right. It’s not personal. Better to move than to possibly aggravate someone on the brink who could be crazier than me. 😉

  24. when a slow driver in front of your vehicle with no apparent reason, that’s what makes angry and upset as well as the narrow road but the other fast moving vehicles

    1. Couldn’t agree with you more!!! Whenever we, my wife and I, encounter a “traffic jam” she immediately says “Oh! There MUST be an accident!” to which I reply “No it’s the idiots, nincompoops – etc, etc, etc” which it ALWAYS is when we get to the head of the parade and there is NO twisted metal or scattered bodies!

  30. The only thing that actually makes me frustrated is drunk driving or dangerous driving. If someone is going too slow or a bit too fast, or merging too slowly, or using the breakdown lane in a traffic jam – that’s no more than a minor inconvenience to me and so what?. I figure the world is full of imperfect people and I have pretty much made every mistake or foolish move that any other driver has. Why spend my time worrying their moves? If I have to go slower I try to savor the extra quiet time. If I’m stopped in a traffic jam – I take out my binoculars and examine details of a nearby structure or a beautiful tree in the distance. Life is too damn short to fill it with anger towards my fellow drivers, and every moment of life is worthwhile.
