  1. I started on 1/1/11 and I haven’t missed a day; in fact, I’ve posted enough for two other bloggers as well.

I love the prompts. I don’t take them seriously and make fun of them most of the time, but they’re doing their job if they’re getting me writing.

I hope you’re going to do this next year; because, if you are, so am I!

  2. I started my blog on January 1 of this year and joined Post A Day & Week on January 21. I’m still doing Post A Week with no problems, especially since I usually do the Weekly Photo Challenge and occasionally Wordless Wednesday. I did give up on Post A Day…I was getting stressed to write something and started to not enjoy doing the blog which for me defeats the purpose.

  3. I started blogging at the start of 2011…I’ve blogged most every day…I see the change in my writing…better at it I’m sure…new words, new thoughts, reading other’s work,…My plan to write about “My Kids” I worked with for 30 years ….special ed kids…has been very inspiring…and my own thoughts on different subjects have blossomed…Thanks so much…for the challenge…

  4. I haven’t been able to post daily or weekly except in fits and spurts. I’ll go a month without posting anyting, then I’ll manage daily for a week or so, then post a couple more on a weekly sort of schedule, before falling silent again.

I will say this… I have found that my traffic spikes when I post something new, and after every burst of creativity my baseline of traffic has moved up.

While promotion and interaction are important, just making sure you have new content posted regularly really does make a difference.

  5. I have posted weekly nearly every week since creating my blog back in April 2009. While I don’t have 100s of followers or subscribers, I have noticed that the months I post EVERY day, the number of visitors to my site skyrockets! For example, I blogged every day in May and again this month. The total visits in May averaged 54 – about 20 more than those months that I only post weekly. I don’t know that August will fare as well, but I have had a blast creating responses to NaBloPoMo’s theme, Fiction, and have combined some WordPress prompts with theirs. Yesterday’s, for example: http://wp.me/pv81p-15x

Thanks for all the bells and whistles WP offers, along with great challenges!

  6. Apparently, I’m up to 397 posts. I don’t know if I started @postaday at the beginning of this year or earlier. Regardless, I try to get it out first thing in the morning. I get to work early just for that purpose. I write for an insurance provider in Hawaii, so the blog is my creative outlet and frees me to buckle down to the mission of helping doctors and their staffs understand policies and procedures. I welcome this. I don’t think I’d want to stop posting daily!

  7. I started my Mon.-Fri. humorous photoblog– TheDailyGraff.com –on Nov. 1, 2010, and have never missed posting on a workday since then. I don’t know what’s more fun, coming up with a “punny” title and caption for one of my photos each day or the “likes” and comments I get! I enjoy the relationships I’ve developed with other WordPress photobloggers.

  8. Hi!I started blogging earlier this year in January but i have not been as consistent as i should be,This is as a result of my doubts about whether or not i would be able to have the kind of blogs readers would be interested in,However i realized that i have to overcome my fears and concentrate and do my best and everything would eventually fall into it’s proper perspective.

  9. It’s been a great experience! Started doing postaday/postaweek (for the photo challenge late May)…. In June got featured by WordPress on postaday2011, on a blogpost about Brazilian Folklore! It was just amazing seeing the stats go up and up… and made lots of new visitors/friends, found people with similar interests/passions (photo challenges). All in all, a great journey… Have been missing a couple of postadays here and there, but able to have over 120 posts within total 6 months of blogging… will keep going! Thanks for all the motivation!

  10. I started PostAWeek2011 when you guys did… 1 Jan 2011. (I’d been blogging for three whole months by then.) Your e-mails have helped me stick with my Mon/Wed/Thu schedule, and my readers tell me that they appreciate knowing when to anticipate my deathless prose.

Next week I’ll hit 150 posts. I’ve been retired for nine years and I generally dislike deadlines, but I appreciate this group’s discipline of making sure that I pump out three a week– on my schedule!

    You’re only a writer if you’re writing…

I will do my best to post something interesting weekly;)

  12. I started the challenge in January. The challenge has been my “accountability partner”. It has kept me on track, even when the train was close to de-railing. I have been places and seen things that have made my heart sing. I have been inspired to try wonderfully delicious foods because of the photo on a post. I have enjoyed so many personal stories. I have made friends with people from all over the world that I would have never met in a million years. I have spent days thinking about a single word and how to interpret it into a photo. I have been invited into the life of so many people and for that I will be forever grateful for this blogging challenge.

  14. I started post a week in January after several months of procrastination. The challenge is what got me going. I usually end up posting more than once a week and also do the weekly photo challenge. I’m having fun, and just posted my 300th post last night!
Thank you WordPress for getting me going!!

  15. I started Post a Day when I started my new blog in July — before I even knew there was a Post a Day 2011 challenge!

I’ve missed a day or two here or there. But the challenge is keeping me (and my blog) going strong. In fact, it’s time for me to work on today’s post. 😉

  16. So does everyone participating in the Post a Day challenge respond to the provided prompt? Or is the idea to simply post *something* every day? I have found that a lot of the prompts, while interesting, don’t mesh well with the subject of my blog–dogs (obviously!). I also just started the blog this month, and I do want to start posting every day, or at least 6-7 times a week (even if it’s twice in one day and zero on another day). But at this point, I’m trying to build my readership, and I’m not sure if it’s wise to post every day. I don’t necessarily want to bury my posts from a few days ago. What do people think?

    1. No, we do not all use all the prompts. They are there only to spur us on if we cannot think of anything to write, like fire insurance–you may never need it, but it sure is good to have it.
I know what you mean about having a special post you do not want to bury. It might be good to let one lie a day or two when that happens. But folks look around and if you have the widget for the best posts, they will check that first, often. 🙂

  17. I started a few months ago, and have considered giving up the whole postaday things several times. But somehow I’m still going! And loving the photo challenge – one of the highlights…

  18. I started in January, and having the somewhat arbitrary PostAWeek commitment has really helped me be consistent – especially during the summer, with vacations. Having managed to post weekly this far, I really couldn’t slack off in the summer. (I used the ability to schedule posts in WordPress to schedule a couple in advance for vacation.)

  19. Love the post a week and weekly photo challenge. Met a lot of cool, talented bloggers because of them. It can be a challenge sometimes on a busy week at work but keeps me motivated to try.

  20. Hello Erica,
I started cartoslibrary in Dec. and posted daily as I removed some books from my library. Then, came your challenge, so I thought it would be easy to blog about a book a day in my library; was I ever wrong, too hard. So I switched to weekly and I love it.

My best posts are for my family: recently I was in hospital and posted about the “Gourmet: Soft Mechanical Diet” I ate there, and the family got a big kick.

Thanks for the Challenge–I’m good to go for 4 more months.

  21. I officially started Post A Day in January when I learned about it, but I had been posting daily when I started my Smile, Kiddo blog (back in Sept 2010). [http://smilekiddo.wordpress.com/] When I learned of Post A Week, I created a blog to follow that format [http://savorysundays.wordpress.com/]. Before Post A Day/Post A Week, I had two active blogs already going [http://meditationmania.wordpress.com/, that I started in Oct 2009, and http://yogayearbook.wordpress.com/, that I started in May 2010]. Initially I blogged to let people who knew me and were interested in my ‘unusual’ pursuits (meditation and yoga) learn more about these things that they liked, but were hesitant to try – and so wanted to learn more though me. As I continued blogging, I found a community – THIS community – and delight in having people in my network who are as excited about and energized by writing as I am.

I continue my blogs in part to stay connected with this community, and in part because I have seen my own writing skills continue to improve as a result of the daily discipline.

I’ve had a ton of fun with Post A Day/Post A Week, and am grateful for the community you at WordPress establish and support. Thank you!

  22. I started PostAWeek in January. I like it because it has encouraged me to blog a whole lot more than I had been. I’m being held accountable. Granted I have missed a lot of weeks, but it gives me the added motivation to continue.

  23. I was told about Daily Post at the end of May. I haven’t posted daily at all. A majority of the topics are just hard to reply to because I have no opinion on most of the topics. Once in a good while, a good topic will be posted and I have to answer it. Most of the time, not really. I guess if 2012 was going to be done, I could try to make an effort to post on a daily basis but I don’t want to flood my blog with posts that doesn’t really provide any content if I have to force myself to say something that doesn’t really contribute to the blog.

  24. I have been post-a-weeking since last week and it has been great fun to participate in the photo challenge. Began photo-blogging in January, however it took me about 8 weeks to really get my feet wet, however then I began to post about once or twice a week. Only recently did I happen to discover the Daily Post. Initially it seemed much too late in the year to begin – despite the encouraging line that it is never too late. But it is now official. Am thrilled to have posted the badge as one of my widgets – and it is wonderful to see how many different interpretations there are for the photo themes. Many thanks to everyone at WordPress for all the help and support. Never knew how much fun blogging could be!
