  1. It’s going really well! It’s been steadily growing and I’ve got a great relationship with some of my daily readers, which is the best part.

I definitely post less words than I used to and I’m not as hard on myself about the content. I speak what’s on my mind and I do a great deal of editing, but I had to accept that I’m not going to write 365 fantastically humorous, witty, and pertinent posts.

Best achievement: Freshly Pressed in January.

I’m so glad I’ve made it two months – it’s flown by! Here’s to another 10 (eep!)

  2. Well, it has been a challenge, I won’t lie! I only started blogging a week before Post a Day started, so it was quite a hard way to get into blogging.

That said I haven’t missed one yet, and thus far it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Rest assured I will be a happy blogger for many years to come. Thanks for helping us through it with some helpful hints and tips.

  3. The Post A Day challenge has forced me to focus and develop a routine for my daily entry. I usually don’t fall asleep the night before without knowing what I plan to post. I am up and posting before 6 a.m. And, I have developed a system of draft posts as “go to” entries should an idea or contributor fall through. My proudest moment: The Word Press staff selecting one of my entries for “Freshly Pressed” front page. It generated a spike in readers and many have stayed with the blog. Thanks to you!

  4. I love this challenge; I find that I have so much to share and learn from all of my wordpress blog buddies. I have a steady following and enjoy all the new friends. I am working on a book or ebook too. Plus working and moving soon. Plus a teenager and demanding expectations from spouse. So, for me this is just a challenge I will succeed at no matter what. Bring it on~

    1. Bobbie, nice job with your site. I was a military wife way back in the 60s and some things just don’t change. You mow the lawn, you raise the kids, watch the news, drive across country, complain or don’t complain, know more women living alone than you ever thought you would being married, and you go on. Best regards.

      1. Thank you Janet. There’s plenty of room for you to join the conversation today. I supsect you may have some marvelous words of wisdom on been there, done that, moved on. Please consider writing something for Off the Base and thank you for reading.

  5. Whew! Thank goodness! I only joined the Post-a-day challenge in February (the shortest month, of course, haha!) so this is only my first month but I decided to re-design my blog as a result and I’m rather proud of my “new look.” I’ve also developed several “weekly features” which I’ll be trying out for the first time this month. I feel like my blog was very on-track over the summer when I got Freshly Pressed but that it started to fall a bit off course afterward so hopefully I’ll be able to maintain some sort of structure next month.

  6. It’s going pretty well. I’m trying this while doing a second job as a tax preparer, so I’m frequently writing late a night after a long work day. Still, I haven’t missed a day despite having to do a couple of filler posts this weekend because I was sick. The part that is the most fun for me is going through each day with a writer’s eye, seeking out that thing, that experience, that issue or news story that I can comment on in my own unique way.

  7. This has been a great challenge. I knew that other responsibilities (AKA “real life”) would prevent me from posting daily, so I signed on for Post a Week with plans to post more often when possible… and I’ve enjoyed it immensely.
I missed last week due to a great trip to Italy that has given me tons to think & write about as well as more than 1500 images to process, so I expect to make up for lost time quickly!

  8. Until Friday I was going strong posting daily on my new blog (blogging about blogging, and how to improve traffic through non-spammy, non-scammy, non-scumy means) since the beginning of Feb. Personal issues got in the way of finishing any of the six drafts in the queue, but I hope to be able to catch back up this week, double posting as needed.

My primary blog (career management and SharePoint), which requres more thought and substsnce, and thereby more effort, hit a snag in achieving weekly postings, though for the year I am still ahead, as I overachieved in January.

And I finally made a post in my long-neglected cooking blog, and have rough drafts for two more posts.

I need to do more work balancing my schedule to provide adequate writing time, but I have written more in two months this year than I did in six months last year. Not too shabby.

  9. At first it was really hard, however after the first month or so it has simply become a habit something I do everyday like brushing my teeth.

I am most proud of achieving more than 8000 visitors in February, never imagined that would happen simply because I blog everyday, its is an improvement from 3300 in December!!!

  10. I am enjoying it their is no doubt, However it does not do my blood pressure any good as it takes me so long to get everything right.
I feel that I have achieved much in that I can release what I want to say but my biggest disappointment is the lack of people reading me. Every e mail that I send has my blog address on it, every time I am on Facebook I remind my friends and family that they MUST support me by reading. I have to
learn to write solely for my own purpose and not to worry about stats etc or getting onto the Freshly Pressed.

Best of luck to all my fellow bloggers.

    1. ahhahaha.. so funny 😀
I myself do not have many readers, because i write for my personal enjoyment, and before the WP has the Facebook connects, i never told anybody that i have a blog.. but it does feel good to see an increment of readers, though i still can not force myself to place an “advertising” everywhere 😉

  11. This has been an amazing challenge. I started out with a blog exclusively on design and have now moved on to a blog on everything and anything.

I love my new blog and although it has noting special I’ve been having a lot of fun doing it, the design blog is on hold.

I need to re prioritize in my live and set some goals when I’ve done that I’ll figure out whether to keep the design blog.
My thanks to the wordpress team for a challenge that keeps me honest and sane, good luck fellow bloggers!

  12. I’m really pleased by the prompts that have led me to places I wouldn’t have gone. For example, the photo prompt of abundance sent me into a family Christmas story, which, if not for the prompt, wouldn’t have happened. Too late in the year for a Christmas story, right? And yet it worked.
And I laughed right out loud (and told my speech class) that the prompt re: what’s the worst trouble you’ve been in made me realize I had a long and lustrous list of trouble (too long to write about though!) and that getting into trouble was one way of having something to talk about in speeches.
So while all the prompts don’t work for my site, they do work for my life. Thanks! It’s fun.

  13. My life right now is probably the most chaotic – and difficult – it has ever been. If something can go wrong, it is going wrong. I am amazed therefore that I can sit down and write in the middle of it all. In fact, I think my ‘daily’ blog (it’s not always daily) is proving to be an anchor, is where I centre my day. And I so much enjoy what I’m writing about! I wonder if others are finding this? From reading the comments, it seems so.

  14. Two weeks ago, I thought I’d take a break and end my perfect postaday record. But, even tho I was out of town, I felt the pull to record each day, finding that even r&r weekends have moments to savor & share . So, still going strong (and now off to write today’s post!)

  15. It is a personal challenge to write every day, even when I skip weekends due to family reasons, I take it up on monday, and have plenty of ideas. Writing is great for evolution of skills, clarifying ideas and goals. And I am really pleased to see an increasing number of people who are interested in my posts and giving really enrichting comments.

  16. I started my blog in May 2010 but it was not until I signed up to the Postaday/Postaweek Challenge that I really had any contact with other bloggers. The wordpress challenge created a great community of bloggers and “buddies” who now support each other on a daily/weekly basis.
Classy Rose (one of my blogging buddies) of “Things in life I find annoying” then created “The RandomBlog2011 Challenge” http://whatsbuggingmetoday.wordpress.com/randomblog2011-challenges/randomblog2011-challenge-2/
To encourage bloggers to visit new blogs every week. I’ve found this a great way to discipline myself to visit even more blogs covering a wide range of interests and writing styles.

The highlight of the last two months was when my post “Gazanias in January” was “Freshly Pressed”
    http://pigletinportugal.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/gazinas-in-january/
I was overwhelmed by the response and kind comments. Thanks to everyone who dropped by!
I’ve also been asked to write a monthly column for a large Expat website plus one of my posts is due to be published on Expatica another website for Expats.

Prior to the WordPress Challenge I only posted about 3 times a month – now it’s 3 times a week as I’m far more organised. This is all thanks to the “challenge”

Thanks WordPress for getting me off my “butt” ! 🙂

PS I love the Weekly Photo challenge it would also be nice to have one for “recipes” to encourage food bloggers 8)

  17. Feels great Erica and a huge thanks to WP for starting this intiative. It kinda helps to know that you are part of a collective effort — it gives you that many more shoulders to depend on and derive inspiration from! And the tips/tactics section is a huge help 🙂

  18. I never noticed how much I use hyphenated words! “Wha–me!? Daily blogging is like priming a pump, I’m not usually at a loss for words and it seems like everything is begging for a story to be told.

  19. Things are going fine, thanks for asking! I’m posting only once a week, but it’s a rewarding experience already. Motivation helps a lot, especially for people who are not used to writing regularly, such as myself. Well done WP!

  20. I’m really pleased. The postaweek challenge has been perfect – my blog(s) are for teachers and writing each week has made me think about some useful resources – useful for me and a bonus if my posts are helpful to others. My posts seems to be showing up in searches too, I seem to have gained some subscribers.

  21. Well my blog is a written accord of my year long challenge to buy everything I need from a Goodwill. So far it’s great!

But what I wanted to do (a post a day) has morphed between a post a day & a post a week because I don’t go to the Goodwill everyday! (well, almost). So my blog does have & will have LOTS of videos & pictures & commentary because of the nature of my challenge. But a post a day might have been a pretty big bite to chew! I
