There are some great ones here in this post at the Urban Muse, and nearly all apply to blogging as well as other kinds of writing.

Here are two of my favorites, quite germane to our project here:

    It is the best way to express yourself without others assuming you are rude for wanting to express how you feel right then and there.

  3. Anyone can become a writer, true. And there is somewhat of a trick to staying a writer, I admit. However, answer this question: Is a real writer still a writer if he is not writing?
    He is.
    Knowing this is the beginning of it all.

      Because your question has been my question just about all my life —
      And this despite having published two books and numerous articles and stories, reviews, etc.
      Because I do not write all the time, my answer has always been: S/he is not.
      So I’m very interested to know more about your strong conviction.

  5. To date, my favorite writing quote is by the ever so great Alice Walker:

    “Writing saved me from the sin and inconvenience of violence.”

    Powerful statement. Within all of us is the energy of eros and thanatos. Only a matter of choice makes someone passionate about expression but also disgusted with injustice able to write with force but not harm nor inflict harm on others. To think that those who cannot do this, those that resort to violence, with words or with arms are so different than us who do not is to not know the human psyche. As Freud is quoted, “Men are more moral than they think and far more immoral than they can imagine.” It’s a thin but ever so reverent line between passion and psychosis. Thin.

  10. What a great post on a great blog. Will this continue after 2011? I may not be able to do the post a day thing next year, but I will definitley do the post a week task and have a ‘I’m part of post a week 2012’ on my blog (if available!).
