My 2012 in Pictures

My 2012 in Pictures. Do I need to say more? And you knew this was going to be a multi-photo challenge!…

My 2012 in Pictures. Do I need to say more? And you knew this was going to be a multi-photo challenge! Make sure you include picture captions to explain to people what they’re seeing, and experiment with the tiled galleries I love so much.

I know it’s going to be hard to narrow down those pictures, maybe perhaps try to share 12 – one from every month?

Pick the best pictures from your 2012 and have those pictures tell everyone about your year.

As for me – are you ready for my 2012? Click on any picture to get it fullscreen. If you get to the end, please let me know what your favorite insight into my 2012 was!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

New to The Daily Post? Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, you’re invited to get involved in our Weekly Photo Challenge to help you meet your blogging goals and give you another way to take part in Post a Day / Post a Week. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

1. Each week, we’ll provide a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog (a new post!) anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.

2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.

3. Subscribe to The Daily Post so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

  1. I have already started preparing the post for Monday the 31st… I’m having difficultly restricting myself to only 3 photos per month!!
Please do call around then for a look… ;-)

    1. I think I got it – I was having the same question too, but I checked out the “add media” pop-up, and there’s a create gallery button at the left hand panel. That should work!

  2. I knew this was coming! I think the challenge is narrowing it down to one photo a month. :-) Your year looks fantastic in photos. Love the Italian wedding and the moped by the ocean shot. Belissimo!

  3. Sara,
I have a suggestion. Can the comments be open for longer than a week? I feel like we have to rush to get something in and it hinders us from presenting our best. It was really hard with Christmas this week. I finally got my done and posted at 2am.
You used to keep it open for longer and those of us who take photos have a creative bent that doesn’t necessarily move fast, juggling jobs, family, etc.
You sent a survey awhile back and though I love WordPress that is one thing I wish you would revert back to.
Also, where are the pingbacks??? Maybe it’s my computer but I’m not seeing them. Can’t find last weeks either. I love going through them on my own schedule.
Thanks for listening and any explanations are appreciated.

    1. Hi Alexandria, I agree about that… It would be good to be able to work on projects like this one for a little bit longer…. Though saying that, we still have a few more days :)

For bigger challenges like these maybe we could have some notice instead…. A few days in advance of comments/pingbacks being open rather than as you say rushing to get in there in the first 30 or so to get noticed!

      1. Good idea. It takes me at least two weeks to put out something of quality. Many of us squeeze this in with jobs, family, and other activities. We love this feature in WordPress as well as our blogging hobby and I don’t understand why they suddenly started closing the comments in one week. And now today the list of track backs is gone. Maybe it’ll come back.
I’ve submitted this comment twice here but I think I’ll email support. They are very good about getting back with you.
As an artist it takes time to put out quality.
        Thanks for joining my comment.

    2. @Simply Sage – nice to hear feedback – we have been closing comments after a week for some time now. Anyone is welcome to participate in past challenges at any time on their own site though, so don’t let that stop you. Leaving past challenges open longer was actually resulting in a lot of unrelated spammy comments and actually very little traffic – creating a lot of extra work for little benefit. Concentrating the community’s focus on one thread a week is resulting in a lot of extra participation and comments across the board :)

I’m looking into the pingbacks issue – those should be turned on.

      1. I understand but maybe you could keep them open through the weekend instead of closing them on Friday? Or keep them open a little longer during the holidays? A lot of people are traveling and very busy. It was really hard to make the last one trying to make it in time for Christmas. Hence, I just combined it with the current one.
I still don’t see the pingback list. Thanks for working on it. I’ve checked PC and iPad and iPhone. I don’t see it on any.
Thanks so much for your quick response!

  4. Wow pretty much all of your photos are really emotive – a very well-travelled 2012! The beautiful building in NYC really struck me, perhaps ‘cos there’s nothing as grand where I live
