Daily Prompt: Be the Change

What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

  1. Funny how phrases make their way into our collective consciousnesses! We used “Be the change” in a fund-raising campaign for wells in Africa about two years ago, so I guess it’s working!

    November 12, 2012
  2. I would like people to see what’s possible for an artist working in soft pastel to create and think about all the hard work, living, and reflection that goes into art-making.

    November 12, 2012
  3. I would like to see my Blog inspire, motivate, entertain and show other Bloggers that one person can truly make a difference in the vast world that we inhabit…

    November 12, 2012
  4. For every person to hear about what changed my life.

    November 12, 2012
  5. I would like my blog to bring people together, no matter what their beliefs or background. We are all part of one race, the human race…lplk.wordpress.com

    November 12, 2012
    • @ Edgeledge I like that idea too. Everyone place nice!

      November 12, 2012
      • Thank you @Shatashari, nice to meet you ;)

        November 12, 2012
  6. Although my blog offers ideas on thrifty, creative and eco-friendly ways to raise children I’ve noticed it’s nearly impossible to get people to change habits or views, unless they are in some way already up for it. So my wish is that people in that happy state stumble across http://homemadekids.wordpress.com. Nicola

I would like my blog to help me be a better part of the world, to find an outlet and appreciation for the stories and feelings in my head.

    November 12, 2012
  8. I would like our blog to inspire and encourage others to know that anyone of us can make a difference and be the change.

    November 12, 2012
    • I agree with you. It is our actions, not words, that ultimately bring about this difference and change.

      November 15, 2012
  9. My blog is an extension of me. If, through one of my posts, photographs or quotes, I can touch just one person and help them awaken on their journey of life, I have done what I set out to do. Live like a tree. Take root and reach for the sky!

    November 12, 2012
  10. I would like my blog of abuse as a child , as a survivor of an attack from being stabbed 21 times. Then building a successful career to inspire others to not give in to horrible circumstances. To rise above all adversity with love in your hearts.

    November 12, 2012
  11. I would like to play a small part in alleviating someone’s mind numbing fear of whatever disease or condition they have with sound advice sprinkled with humor. For only then will they be ready to move forward and tackle it in a positive way.

    November 12, 2012
  12. What a great question, and the allusion to Ghandhi just makes it better. Clearly, I’d like my blog to interest people, etc., but making an actual change in the world seems a bit above my pay grade.

    November 12, 2012
  13. I was going to say “absolutely none!” After giving it some thought, blogs are mainly to serve the blogger’s ego in some way. This doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing. I blog out of boredom and a desire to share some things. I enjoy that others like (or not) what I write. In my case, I have enjoyed the weekly challenges the most since I began doing those. It takes a little thought to find the right photo for a challenge or the right words for a story. It is all about sharing. And, it can be done anonymously. My sharing has limits.

    November 12, 2012
  14. I’d like to spread a little good cheer, a little interest in the quirkiness of the universe we live in, a chance to look at things that might not be noticed. I don’t have grand ambitions, but I do think that happiness can reseed itself like dandelions and brighten the world with little splashes of color.

      Beautiful words :)

      November 12, 2012
  15. I would like people to realise vegetarians do not eat meat, chicken, fish or shellfish.

I would like people to understand that feminism is not about deriding men or having hairy legs. It is about respecting women as much as men. And also about women being free to live their life without fear.

I would like people not to abuse animals. Raping a donkey? Dear me. Who on earth carries out such abusive behaviour?

I would like people to stop killing each other, especially in the name of spurious wars (WMDs come to mind).

I would like people to regard and look after old and homeless people, and not consider them a drain on society.

I write about all of these on my blogs, but I haven’t a clue whether it makes any difference. I wish it did.

    November 12, 2012
    • I love your comment….how many times have I been offered fish after announcing am a vegetarian?? My husband now just says “We don’t eat anything with eyes” and aside from the few smart asses that point out potatoes have eyes I think it makes our point. I like all your comments and I applaud you for saying them so eloquently.

      November 12, 2012
    • Well said!

      November 12, 2012
  16. Gonna throw up now . . .

    November 12, 2012
  17. I would like my blog to inspire people to travel and explore the world through photographs captured during my adventures.

I would like my blog to encourage people to follow their dreams. Nothing is impossible if you work hard for it.

    November 12, 2012
  18. Just get people to think — think outside their little boxes. And maybe get a laugh or two.

    November 12, 2012
  19. Thank you Michelle. This is another one that struck a chord in me, albeit a much deeper chord than the tapioca chord. I will be all over this as soon as I’m able.

    November 12, 2012
  20. To acknowledge the reality of life, yet be hopeful, positive and inspire people along the journey. “Life is truly beautiful only if one feels and looks at it such a way even in worst times.”

    November 12, 2012
  21. I would like to encourage people to not compromise their values or beliefs.
    http://deepandwonderfulthoughts.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/toyotas-and-lamborghenis/

    November 12, 2012
  22. Forget about changing the world….just me…first, I love this life thing!

    November 12, 2012
  23. To have a moment of peace and solace that reminds them that peace and solace are an always available choice within them.

    November 12, 2012
  24. Encourage women who are done with child rearing to take steps toward living their longings — to do the things they have put on the back burners of their lives for too long!

    November 12, 2012
  25. Perhaps my blog will give others a unique view of some of the things we all share. It may be that my twist on the world is not as different as I think, but if it brings about some introspective thought then it has made some impact on our lives.

    November 12, 2012
  26. I would hope that my blog helps others realize that they are not alone. I write about my past, present, and hopes for the future. I often share my fumbles and try to laugh at myself. I would like to think that someone would read my blog and think that they are not the only one who struggles with both the complex and (sometimes) the mundane.

    November 12, 2012
  27. Oh, the eternal question…why write? In South Africa we remain a polarized society, despite all the rainbow analogies. Rolbos ( http://rolbos.wordpress.com/ ) has at its very core, the desire to stop pretence and posturing – and to start living together in harmony. That’s why so many issues are dealt with: in the hope that humour and a good-natured nudge will get us on our way…

  28. http://oceanphoenix.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/dp-12-11-12-be-the-change-sei-die-veranderung-photos/#respond

I’d be happy if my blog – which is not more than a personal diary with photos and special moments, thoughts and feelings of my ordinary everyday life – can make people smile…

If you stumble across my blog, enjoy the photos and perhaps even recognize some of your own feelings and thoughts in my words -

If I can sometimes make you feel the love of nature that I feel ..

if you even feel a little “understood” in some respect, and simply enjoy having been here for a few minutes – then my blog has served its humble purpose and made the positive change for one moment.

The rest of my entry is in German (and photos :) )

Thank you for the inspirations here :)

Here’s mine. Take it for what it’s worth. Maybe a lot, maybe a little. Thanks again Michelle!

  30. I would like people to write down their goals and live them. Make your life better everyday by doing something that is moving forward and reaching a goal. The smallest change I could inspire is to stop people from using the make up testers on the counters on their face. Come on people be that change.

    November 12, 2012
  31. i would like for my blog to inspire women.. that are struggling to push through. to motivate, to see that they are not alone… single mom’s have it tough and it’s not often that the struggles are discussed… i do it for me… i do it for them. i wish i knew a few women experiencing some of my same challenges.

    November 12, 2012
  37. Thanks a lot wordpress and all bloggers, because you make my world more rich ♥

    November 12, 2012
  38. I would like my blog to reveal information that is sometimes mis-interpret the wrong way. This information if not taken the right way could “ruin” a person’s life instead of helping the person. I hope my blog helps someone not to make the same mistakes that I have made in life, and having the correct understanding can make our lives so much better. I want to be a change, however, I want my blog to help make changes to certain issues that will cause us to live the change for the better. I want my blog to help get rid of “ugly bully issues” that hinder our lives.

  41. This is an interesting prompt because one of my favourite quotes is “You must be the change you wish to see in the world (Mahatma Ghandi)”. I truly believe that we all need to try and make positive changes in our lives so we can influence others in a positive way. On November 10th, I wrote a post called, “YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE”, which touches on the subject of change. I hope that my blog will help influence people to make some positive changes in their own lives so they can be a positive role model and a good example to their families, friends, co-workers and in their communities.

    November 12, 2012
    • Interestingly, the same quote is the sign off for my email to remind myself to implement the changes that I want to see. :)

      November 13, 2012
  42. I hope to inspire others to consume less, think more, see beauty in the most simplest of things, stop being afraid of change. Encourage re-using, recycling and start thinking second hand. Try to cook or bake – it’s actually fun. Eat well, on less. Decorate with ‘junk’. See beyond what advertisers want you to believe and most importantly, to remind others you don’t need as much as you think – money isn’t everything. Sure it helps, though a lot of people could live on less, if they consumed less, wanted less… We have more stuff and less time, more money yet less peace, we work more and play less with our children…life is short, make it lovely – for everyone – by being true to yourself and respecting the planet and its’ finite sources; it’s the only one we have. Less truly is more.

  46. I am so looking forward to reading what others have written on this. I decided the best thing I could do was to write and submit my post before I read others to make sure it was my words and my heart that were speaking.

  47. Even if a handful of readers learn to differentiate good art from bad via establishing what’s good art for them, I’d be satisfied. If a handful more will learn something that will help them progress as artists, I’d be thrilled.

  61. I blog because I like to sharing the experience of being a woman. That woman being one who is somewhere between young and old, and can’t legitimately play with Barbie anymore. If there’s a change I’d like to see in the world, it’s that women are fully armed with the information needed to make informed decisions about the buffet of anti-aging options at our feet. I would like vanity not to be a dirty word, yet restore dignity to the wrinkle. To me, the beauty rhetoric is split beween the two extremes of feminism and fashion; I’d like to think there’s perspective somewhere in the middle.

Most importantly, all this needs to be wrapped up in fun. Life’s too short for us to take nail art and Botox that seriously.

  75. I would like my blog to inspire people of vast amounts of wealth to give up the fear of not maintaining control and help reshape our existence by setting the ultimate example of change for the better. Throughout history, as far as I know, greedy, fearful people have been guiding the hand of too many of the controlling forces in our daily lives.

Does it really make sense that it has become accepted to make controlled substances illegal, yet our government makes it ok to manufacture meth-amphetamines and prescribe it to children for their “ADD” or “ADHD”?

Is it really ok to spend billions of dollars a year to kill people in other countries to set an example? (Of what, That My government’s got a bigger penis?! seriously people!! Wake up!)

People will always react and fight to protect their dignity.. My subtle recommendation is to stop giving them a reason to fight. Stop trying to make life harder than it has to be. Be a grown-up, apologize profusely pay the piper with an alternative to killing and start showing people how to co-exist..

Why were we allowed to screw over the economy for a handful of people to capitalize on the pointed real estate meltdown..

I could go on but I will stop there.. I just want to see a little change for the better. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve had to deal with the blunt force of being kicked to the bottom of the financial totem pole when I am fighting to get to the top, only so that I can make a change in the daily lives of people for the better. With absolutely no ulterior motive.

  86. First, this is a great prompt! Thank you.
Second, my blog began as a place for me to place book reviews-one of my joys…reading and growing from the experience. I have since then made it into a place to help others grow and know that for change, it takes only one positive person/place/thought/action, to make a difference.

  89. I want my blogsite (still under construction) to convince, inspire, and motivate a significant portion of a 25 million-strong group of American men and women to make a (free) personal sacrifice, their anonymity, to end the circular cultural debate about abortion and to use their collective political power to spur quantum advancements in contraception so that by the end of the 21st century, virtually every pregnancy will be intended and human suffering will be dramatically reduced.

In short, I want to offer up new tools to 25 million people that they can heroically use to change the world in their lifetime.

I want my blogsite to be a “shout out” that causes an avalanche.

I want my child to live in a more humane world.
