Weekly Photo Challenge: Self Portrait

Self Portraits! Take a picture of yourself – artistic, close-up, from afar, in your favorite spot, where you live, however you want to express yourself, and share!
New to The Daily Post? Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, you’re invited to get involved in our Weekly Photo Challenge to help you meet your blogging goals and give you another way to take part in Post a Day / Post a Week. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.
Here’s how it works:
1. Each week, we’ll provide a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.
2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use a “postaday2011″ or “postaweek2011″ tag.
3. Subscribe to The Daily Post so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS

The theme for this week [self portrait] is a bit intimidating
for i am an introvert who likes to keep a low profile -
what i blog about is my thoughts, my life, my wandering mind.

I attempted to use a shallow depth of field for my self portrait, and discovered that it is not easy to get the focus right at f1.8 when you are on the wrong side of the camera while shooting. If I get better results, I’ll post later.

Will there be a post a photo challenge for 2012? I ask because, without knowing about this challenge, I’ve spent the last year of so taking pictures of myself as a sort of project — only some of which I’ve acually posted to my blog, or contributed to blog carnivals. I think this is a wonderful idea; if there is no “official” program for 2012, I hope you don’t mind if I “borrow” the idea and incorporate it into a blog project I had been thinking doing — project 360 — to make a 360 turn aournd in my life, take 360 protraits of myself (have to learn how to use the self-timer on my camera — so far all are mirror shots, lol), and write 360 blog posts – even if only short, inspiration things I had heard or read — rather than my own prose, poetry, or personal journey. So sorry to stubble across it in January 2012!
