Introducing weekly photo challenges

Any photographers out there? Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, we invite you to get involved in our new Weekly Photo Challenge to help you meet your blogging goals and give you another way to take part in Post a Day / Post a Week. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.

Here’s how it works:

1. Each week, we’ll provide a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.

2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use a “postaday2011″ or “postaweek2011″ tag.

3. Subscribe to The Daily Post so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS.

    I am a medium photographer, some talent but not nearly well developed enough. However, this looks fun, and I got a new digital camera for my birthday. It will be an interesting challenge to try and keep it within my focus of fantasy fiction :D

    I love this. :)
    But I think you should suggest a tag that everyone use that is different from postaday2011 & postaweek2011. Maybe something like photoaweek2011 ??? Something that would distinguish these posts from the others. This would be good for organizational reasons, and also for those look to view the photo challenge posts specifically.

    I love this idea because it provides alternative inspiration in a form that is challenging for me.

    P.S. Are pictures still worth a thousand words, or has the recession affected this, too?

    I actually do this already although not yet on my blog.
    Every Monday I upload a new picture to my free to download iPhone app –
    The Monday Picture
    If you have an iPhone and it’s not part of your life you’re missing out honest. The really good thing is, if you hate it and you won’t, it hasn’t cost you any money. Result!

    That sounds fun! I love to take pictures, but I don’t have so good time to take pictures when I goes at school! My blog is about everything. I post pictures in every posts, and my last post is about an Ester experiment!

      Otherwise, I get everything confused…what’s what?
      One more vote for a name. I do Photo’s on Newsvine too on Fridays. No theme though! I like the theme concept :-) Charlie

    When I looked up the definition for ‘boundary’ in my copy of The Concise Oxford Dictionary, 1975 edition, I was shocked. All it had was, ‘Limit-line; (Cricket) hit to limit of field scoring 4 or 6 runs’. A subsequent search on ‘yourdictionary.com’ came up with the definition ‘Something that indicates a border or limit’. This gives a little more leeway for interpretation, which I’ll have to give some thought to before taking the shot.

    This idea is simply brilliant. Read a recent post in the papers abt bloggers on the decline due to facebook & twitter. This will keep creative juices flowing :-)
