Topic: When teleportation is finally possible…

Topic #35

Here’s today’s topic, brought to you by Plinky.com:

When teleportation is finally possible, where will you beam yourself first?

(Yes, you can assume you’d be able to teleport yourself back. It’d be a teleportation app for your phone of course, which you’d keep in your pocket).

  1. Now this is a highly amusing topic. Teleportation would make our breakneck pace society even faster. Making vacations and trips convenient at any given time. It’s an intriguing concept. Yet where to teleport? Perhaps I’d go to Paris (France) again, and spend more time there… or, even better, to the very uppermost peak of Mount Everest! Certainly a plethora of options.

  2. Or for a variation… assume you COULDN’T get back by teleportation, it was a one-way shot. Where would you go then?

  3. Shell Bay, Dorset – lovely sunny beach with clear water. It’s fairly shallow, but deep enough to swim. It has miles of sand dunes and I used to sell ice cream there when I was a kid.

  4. I will be your first volunteer even if only half of me returns. But I would like to teleport to Lake Atitlan, Gutaemala right now, where the rainbow got its colors. :)

  5. Now wouldn’t that be silly if I added to your post?

  6. I said I would use this to create a “Perfect Sunday”

If only this was possible :)

  7. This whole concept has really made me think. If teleportation became a reality, I would like to see the beginning of everything. Check out my lastest posting “Teleport to the big bang” on my blog at https://theskythismonth.wordpress.com/

  8. I’d teleport to countries I’d love to visit, but without the hassle of airport security, 7 hours or more in uncomfortable airplane seats, food on the run, sore body from pent-up tension, jet lag, and taxi rides.

If I could travel “in style” that way, I’d be off to somewhere different once or twice a week! Where would I go first? Probably Kauai for some much needed R&R…and lots of warm weather and sunshine…aaahhh…I can feel its rays already…

    beam me up, scotty…hugmamma.

  9. Eu adoraria me teletransportar, para uma ilha paradisíaca, mas com conforto e ficar por lá sem preocupações, só curtindo. E voando por ser rápido.
Uau, seria tudo de bom. Só em sonhos mesmo.

Tomorrow’s question – if you could be a vegetable, what type would you be?

I think the post a week idea is much more feasible.

  12. If teleportation was actually possible I’d go everywhere! Not all at once, of course. Truth be told, many times sitting at an airport, I’ve wished teleportation was a viable means of getting to where I was going. No waiting, no need to pack and if you forget something, oh well. Beam home, get it, beam back.
Found I started clouding wishful thinking with practicalities. Boo! Takes all the fun out of it.

  13. I like this one. So many places to go . . .

    February 3, 2011
  14. I sometimes wish for it, but I realized it takes out half the journey as well.

  15. I want to go around the World and a different day or two in each country.
Then go and do the states, and I am done with all of that exhausting traveling I will need a very long Nap indeed!

  16. I would teleport to the middle of a wide and vast forest at the peak of the autumn season. All of the leaves would have turned yellow and red. The air would be crisp, but not cold. A nearby lake would be so very still with a slight mist coming off the surface. I would apprciate this place for a few moments, perhaps write a verse or two, and go home to my family. At home, the table would be set with a prime rib roast dinner and a glass of my favorite wine. Wow that sounds good!

  17. I would teleport myself back in time and spend a year or two with Ben Franklin and get inside his head. He was so involved in community, politics, business and left such an amazing legacy. Then I’d come back and blog about what we did, who we met and what I learned!

  18. I wish I had this power.
    Would be totally AWESOMEEE!!

  20. I would teleport myself to heaven. When I got there, I would ask God: “What is the purpose of life?” and “What do you want me to do with my life?” I would be sure and bring back some evidence with me so that I could prove that there is a God and that I saw “him.” If by chance, there is no heaven and no God, then I would hope my trip would be a thriller filled with inspiration and insight that would bring delight to all I shared my adventure with.

    • Hmm, if there is no God then you might disappear into the abyss, wherever that is…

      February 4, 2011
  21. I would teleport myself to visit some of my closest friends who are currently living across the ocean from me. It is far too expensive to visit them, but I miss them dearly and would love for the opportunity to be able to spend more time with them.

  24. I must admit that it’s always been a dream of mine to have a pet T-Rex… So I’d beam back then and tame one! Obviously I’m going to need to collect a big bag of mammoth bones first!

Just wish me luck that I can tame the T-Rex before my IPhone runs out of battery. That reminds me… I better turn the brightness right down and Bluetooth off while I remember..

  25. I’ve used my teleporter to go travelling, first stop Japan. Flying is so 20th century…

  26. How convenient. You can ask your colleague, Want to grab lunch in Paris? She says Yes, sure, or Sorry, I have some errands to run in Milan.

  29. I’m always wishing the whole Star Trek beam-me-up Scotty was a reality. Especially when the weather is lousy or I want to instantly visit someone far away. Thanks for the inspiration to actually write it in my blog.

  32. i would teleport beside my bestfriend for he is my real home. i would take him to places he had never been to.

    February 15, 2011
  33. I realized two things:
    (1) Assuming this is brand new technology I would try it out in a field somewhere and teleport myself from one end of the field to the other rather than risk teleporting a much further distance.
    (2) I would MUCH rather be able to time travel than teleport…most places I’d go I can get to by plane anyway.
I still answered the question of course (aside from #1 above) see it at
