Topic: Why did you start?
Topic #14:
Disclaimer: these are optional – if you don’t like ‘em, don’t use ‘em. Feel free to post something else, or explain why you don’t like this topic as your topic. It’s all good.
Here’s today’s topic idea:
What made you decide to start a blog? If you’ve blogged about this before, go back and read it. Is that still the reason? What’s changed?
Reminder: Do not answer this in the comments. That would be very silly. You should grab this topic and write a post about it on your blog.

Ooooooooh good one!
Briefly, WordPress encouraged me , and thanks to YOU Scott for pressing me to blog everyday. I’ll write detail in my blog to make sure not to defeat the purpose of Daily Post.
Thanks again.

This is a good one!
What I like best about this suggestion is the lack of the usual “if it doesn’t fit” disclaimer…
If this suggestion doesn’t fit your blog’s general topic (e.g. Your blog is about never having blogged and never intending to start blogging) that’s ok. Simply apply the question by adding or changing some words.
But, putting the snarkiness aside, this may actually make a good suggested topic – what are the challenges you face when blogging?
lol
The complaints from people about how specific topics don’t work for them have slowly quieted down. It took awhile, but don’t need that disclaimer any more.
but the disclaimers were sooooooooo fun!
How true! I missed that completely.
I agree. They were quite funny.
Good topic!
I did this topic last week. Here’s a link.

You are a week ahead of me, it appears. Can you tell me what the lottery numbers are?

Just you may find yourself cursed and on some weird island with a polar bear and a guy called Jacob…
LOL!

I know at least one person who isn’t going to like it!
en français … pourquoi un blog ? noter des livres et des films qui m’ont intéressée, that’s all folks
After I blog since 2008… Why? Though I have the answer, I never blogged about it.
Great topic and the post is coming soon.

What a coincidence… I answered that question just last night.
Thanks Steve.

I have started blogs for a number of reasons:
the one on wordpress: to learn more about Html from a class I took at
a local arts cooperative, to have a journal and look for like minds, to
express my arts and to think about political and social issues.
By the by, I think your prompts are interesting!
A short story to begin with.

I like that topic “Why did you start blogging”. I might have to expand on that one in my blog.
Thank you so much for the topic ideas that are sent daily.
My thoughts on the subject:
http://simplepleasuresbooks.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/weekly-topic-why-blog/
I started blogging (more) in 2011 because I started a challenge to buy everything I need from a Goodwill store (except food, toiletries and prescription items).
It has already been receiving a GREAT response and I can’t wait to share all the new information, new community members and of course the awesome THRIFT FINDS with my blog to everybody!
Lovely topic…however…I am still mulling over the idea of blogging about something I have never talked about…the range is SO wide.
My goodness…the more I think about this topic the more I like it…my whole style has completely changed since I started blogging(not on this forum)…yep…this is a brilliant idea.
You can use the same topic more than once. Even twice. Or six times.
I started to originally drive more traffic to various websites i managed a few years ago, but now, I still do that, i just put more thought into the original posts i write and enjoy the chellenge of attracting more veiwers to my blog everyday
Good question and what a fab idea, just started the dailypost think it’s gonna be good fun. This is my fisrt dailypost erm post

I think that is a superb idea – finding out everyones motivations and that is great. I know i’m learning so much about myself and i’m bettering my skills also. People have said that they’ve been moved by my posts. That makes it all worth while.
Great minds often come up with the same idea???

this is a topic that everyone can blog about!!
good one!
Loving all the topics, I think i might end up writing everyday. Liked this topic and wrote about it on http://twilightreadings.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/i-am-so-glad-i-started-this/
I started out of boredom and the desire to write.
http://jtwhite.me/2011/01/13/why-did-i-start/
I love your suggestions! I won’t be using this one, as I already hit it prior… http://theonyxplate.com/2011/01/04/why-i-do-this/….but, it’s a nice suggestion.
Thank you for the daily inspiration! It is very much appreciated……
Awesome! It was a great way for me to let the world know what motivated me to do something I’ve always loved to do but never did. — write! Thanks Scott.

I, too, like this topic and was eager to write about it. Here’s my entry:

Nice and interesting topic ! I do not have really post about it today but it’s kind of pretty close too! It does explain why I love to blog in English instead of blogging in my mother language…

I enjoyed writing this today. I’ve only been blogging for a few weeks but I was able to find places where I can improve.
The last two weeks I’ve written more posts than I did in the whole of 2010. With more writing comes more editing. English is not my mother-tongue, so I have to look up a lot. When I’m tired I find myself writing “male” instead of “mail” and “write” instead of “right”. When “a writer’s wet dream” becomes “a wet writer’s dream”, you know it’s time to call it a night (or was it day??) Happy blogging!

This was an awesome lead in for a blog post. This challenge has been great for me. It has opened the flood gates of creativity that I wasn’t sure was even there.
I’ve also had the pleasure of reading a lot of wonderful posts. Great job everyone…happy writing
This was a great lead . . . I started mine with a broken heart, the loss of a 16 year old son . . . .

I agree that this is a good question
I’ve been trying to figure out when I could use one of the topics you’ve suggested into my existing photo blog. Standby, here it comes!!!
Actually I started in order to find a better way to fill my time than just video games. On top of that I want to use my blog as a way to write about my view in, on, and around Japan. That and anything else in my life that seems interesting at the time.
Here goes nothing!
